Lack of match day atmosphere

The atmosphere was never going to be great when we are being given a footballing lesson but it was more like a morgue at Plainmoor.

The reason is mostly down to the lack of support from the Grandstand. I know Popsiders would laugh at the idea that the Granstanders make for atmosphere but I do believe that the empty stand has a negative effect.

I reckon it would be worth opening up the Grandstand again if the demolition has been put back until October. What do others think?

When we scored today the fans got really noisy and encouraged the players well. I am confident that the atmosphere will be very good in other games this season. Today we were facing a very difficult task and it reflected in the atmosphere. Also I was very glad that the drum and singers have moved back to near the halfway line on the popside.

The grandstand is out of action as it has lost it's licence. Even if there were nonplans for a new one- it would still not be allowed.

It has been said above the grandstand can not re-open, as for game atmosphere is concerned, it is allways going to be difficult to get a good atmosphere going while watching your team take such a roasting.

Fair play to the lads down on the half way line they did try all game long.

Most of the attention seemed to be on the Popside referees assistant yesterday, including the most cringeworthy comment I've heard from a Torquay fan in a long time, centered on the assistants daughter.

I've said that for a long time Dave. Instead of singing the praises (and encouragement) of our own team, a few want to just abuse the assistants, the ref and the opposition supporters. Some of the comments are just embarassing. Where I stood at Aldershot, there were 4/5 supporters (Most of them were old enough to have known better) who spent the entire match berrating the assistant on our side. To be honest if the lino had turned around and given them a mouthful it would have been no more than they deserved. Having said that, the singing from behind the goal was brilliant. To be fair, it was a bit difficult to get anything going on sat.
