Di Canio is a penis. He has been saying that Swindon are league 1 standard. In terms of club size yes they are Paolo. In terms of the here and now and the predictably shit job you are doing currently they are not. Just like Paul Gascoigne couldn't have finished playing in Italy and then gone on to have a successful career as manager of Pescara, Di Canio can't finish playing at the top in England and then drop down 3 divisions to Swindon and make them a success. That combined with a severe attitude problem and if you don't do as i say attitude towards his staff then it is a recipe for failure. I don't really blame Di Canio, the real culprit is the brainless **** who appointed Di Canio thinking about short term sensationalism rather than long term success. If he is a businessman then he must have been a banker in a former career. Gus Poyet is an excellent example of a foreigner who is primed for success, an ameable, calm, analytical individual who has spent time in the lower reaches learning what its all about. Di Canio on the other hand just puts out a team to play any given game. Say they were playing AFC Wimbledon. Does he know their players and their systems, their qualities? Does he ****. But i bet one of his assistants does and is paid a lot less than him to do his job for him and try to set out a winning swindon team against them.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here austrian and say Di Canio should be applauded for taking a job at a lower league club rather than wait for the inevitable Premiership/Championship job to come up that he could walk into. It seems to be too easy for former players to waltz into a job at a 'big'(ish) club without having done much to prove himself. Zola, Di Matteo, and to a lesser extend Ince got gigs at Prem clubs without having much in the way of a managerial CV.

Although I do think Di Canio is very ill-suited to management anyway - often seems to be the case that terrifically talented footballers find managing the cloggers a bit hard.
