O'Kanes Contract

As we all know, O'kanes contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Ling (during pre-season) said that negotiations would be tied up in September. I guess this timing is due to the close of the Transfer Window allowing us to asses how much room is left in the playing budget.
Looking at Twitter chats between Manse / Eunan, discussions are well under way and O'kane is seemingly desperate to sign! Great news, and hopefully it will be tied up quickly.

Just had a quick read. Sounds very positive.
The sooner we can get him signed up the better as it won't be long before the January rumour mill starts up and he gets linked to a certain club up the M5. They are in need of a creative midfielder apparently.
I think the club should push the boat out and try to get him on a three year deal. I just can't see how we can lose out and it assures us of getting good money for him when the time comes for him to move on.

I think as long as the contract stipulates that he can speak to a club in a higher division if they come calling he'll sign. Wouldn't begrudge him that as long as we got a decent price.

I have come on to post about this very thing, but with a negative slant. I saw what he said last night and it had me very worried indeed, that he had signed for some massive team or another on a loan deal or pre contract agreement.

From reading on in Twitter it does seem, to me, that Eunan is looking to stay providing he gets the right deal for himself.

I agree - sorry Matt but not seeing what you are here? Hope I am right - would be gutted if you are Matt.

It's not fu***ng clever!
My worry was based on only two twits which he had made last night, saying something along the lines of "Oooh, big day today" and "All sorted tomorrow, hopefully"
Obviously, this could have gone either way.

Today he was joking with Mansell how a director had to sell off a house to get him his pay rise, and that it's Mansells turn to negotiate next
"am sure u r! U want me to have a word when am in? 'I aint siging unless manse gets a rise!'?!
Now, that to me suggests that he's negotiating with the Torquay board as the only other possibility is Mansell and O'Kane are signing for the same team. Even then, I'm not sure it is technically a 'rise' if you move company.

much as i'd like to know what's going on with Eunan, all this twitter stuff gets on my nerves. maybe i just don't get it, but twitter sounds like a rope to hang yourself with when it comes to sharing personal information.
as for eunan's contract, naturally we all want him to sign and stay, but more importantly, sign and make sure we can get a decent fee for him when he inevitably moves on to bigger things. he seems like a decent lad, and i'm sure he'll be forever grateful to TUFC for bringing him into the English game, and helping him to become the player he is (and the player he looks destined to be). signing a contract would serve us well for the present, and the future, so get him signed ASAP !!

We'll need players like O'Kane (and Manse) as we rise into the Championship.

Sounds positive. I'm not on twitter so I can't see it, but that sounds good.

Surely the players would have more tact and intelligence to disclose that they were negotiating with another team, it wouldn't make sense for them to advertise this and to risk the wrath of the fans on twitter. I'm pretty certain both will stay, Mansell and O'Kane are settled here and are both integral to the team and must be due a decent deal. I'm sure they could get a better deal elsewhere but both are settled in the area and enjoy playing for the club so it seems unlikely they will move on imminently.
