Grandstand update
Hello all,
A quick update for those who are impatient/not attending tomorrow. Visible work has begun on the Grandstand. The whole stand is fenced off, the far end (the away end, eerm, end) is now a genuine, bonafide building (or rather, demolition) site. The area at the Family Stand end of the pitch is reseeding nicely having been dug up and the dugouts (minus “lucky†horseshoe) have been moved towards the away end.
The press benches have been moved and installed at the top left hand corner of the Family Stand and there is now a “Yellow Submarine†catering wagon by the mural on the exterior wall on the corner of Grandstand and Family Stand.
Apart from this, there is now a much thicker wall bordering the pitch on the Pop side. This has been necessitated by a visit from the Council inspector who licenses the sides of the ground (individually, not as a whole ground). This inspector suggested that the single skinned wall was insufficient to allow the full capacity of the Pop side to be in attendance. Those who remember the Reading game (jammy, undeserving b*****ds!) will know exactly the problem which is caused by an under strength wall.
Aside from this, there are very few changes to the ground which suggest that work has begun. It’s obvious, but not terribly obvious, if you see what I mean.
Matt.

As I understand it we still don't have a contractor for the reconstruction - we are still out to tender on that part of the works so we will not complete now until after the end of the season.

Why can't we get Saah to organise the demolition work? For that is surely where his talents lie.
Bump.
Good pictures Walshy. Pretty much what it looked like last night - all gone down to the half way line, sure did look strange!!
Won't be long where there'll be nout there to look at!
