Evening folks, just wanted some information and opinion on Crewe away, what the ground, facilities, parking and atmos is like and is it an all round thoroughly pleasurable day out? I've never been before, set off from Chesterfield for a night game a couple of years ago but had to turn round near Buxton due to thick snow. Good job as well as they scored an injury time leveller to cancel out a Zebs scorcher and it finished 1-1. I'm off there for our next away game. Crewe is one of those places you will probably never visit unless you are a footy fan or a railway enthusiast but i've always wanted to go and visit Gresty Road. (i know the name has changed but to me it will always be Gresty Road). Do they have any interesting memorabilia at the club regarding all the talent they have unearthed over the years? Are the toilets adequate for someone who needs them!!! I shat myself at Accrington! Haha! Anyway, i would appreciate fellow yellows views on Crewe and thanks.

Sadly I haven't been to Crewe, and won't be able to this season as I'm away.

Parkings easy as theres a massive car park behind the home end which is only a couple of quid (from memory) to park in. The train stations about two minites from the ground aswell if you decided to go that way. Theres a scocial club at the ground which is decent and a couple pubs not far away and a nice chippy just accross the road from the away end aswell. Not too far off the motorway either as the grounds on the outskirts not near the town centre though there are a few shops in walking distance.

Crewe is a good away trip Andy, make sure you visit the chippy, it's won plenty of awards and deservedly so. Stewards are great, their fans are pretty welcoming too.

Admittedly I've only been to Gresty Road twice, despite living less than half an hour away, but both times were great. First time was 2009/10 season when we drew 1-1, gutted when Torquay conceded late on, made even worse by the fact we were sitting with the Crewe fans in that huge stand they have. One thing that struck me was that the Crewe fans are so highly critical of their own team it was actually laughable. The supporters jumped on every single mistake their players made but there was no swearing or rage, the fans just groaned and all we could hear "Good lord this is awful", I've seen some poor football but compared to this". It was rather nice I thought, they weren't hooligans they were just people complaining.

Second time was brilliant, great atmosphere as they had only opened part of the stand we were in so we were all together, really loud. Made even better when we were 1-3 up I think it was at the interval. Then of course we conceded 2 and we drew so it was disappointing but I've got used to that following Torquay :~D

So all in all, great day out. Or in my case, great hour or two out.

Hopefully there's less fighting amongst ourselves at Crewe too!

One thing to make a 4-1 defeat worse is when our own fans are arguing with each other in the stands.
I get as frustrated as the next bloke, but it's not nice to see it vented to each other...

I thought that was what the lino was for anyway :~D

Then there was the fight outside immediately after. What was all that about??!?
That fat bloke with the ridiculous hairdo was at the centre of it again - he's always causing some kind of conflict.
I hope he decides to stay at home for the Crewe game cos we don't need that sort in the away end

i think i know exactly who you mean, and if i'm right, he was sat next to me last season at Crewe as it happens. too much to drink, too much to say, and most of it was utter b@ll@x. involved in a fight was he ?? would be such a shame to see him get a slap 8/

as for the original question, i agree with the other guys, Crewe is a fairly decent away day. i'm certainly intending to go again this year, having missed a lot of games for one reason or another already this season. the away section is in a fairly low stand so not really the best view, but not the worst either. at least it's round about the halfway line rather than being stuck in the corner.

Thats no way to describe Dave. He's a nice bloke when you get to know him.......

Oh and Crewe is a nice away day, friendly fans good view and the chippy is excellent!

Because some young lad behind him was taking the piss at Howe being knocked out. And had a go at him in the ground and obviously something else must of been said outside. I didnt see how it started (outside) as I was back on the Coach then.

I like going to Crewe. Easy parking, nice club shop, pretty good view and the chippy, outside, is brill. Think it's quite expensive to get in though.

Cheers everyone for your input. Sod the game, i'm heading straight for the chippy when i get there! Sounds great, i hope the fayre on offer can beat what the chippy opposite Spotland serves up as they hit the spot. Looking forward to this game immensely.

I have been to both Crewe grounds. The unrebuilt and the newly refurbished ground. You have easy access from the M6 and the ground is one of the first things along with the railway station that you come to.
If I remember rightly as you come into Crewe you drive past a huge factory which is the Rolls Royce cars home. The roundabout come next and as you turn left you go across a large railway bridge with the station entrance on it. just past is a junction to turn left to the ground which is just behind the station. You can't fail to notice the ground as there is one huge stand and the 3 smaller ones. But the new stand would have housed the entire crowd for most matches I am sure. and then some. It's smart. neat and tidy. not like the old ground. The Chippy is pretty good to, in fact there is more than one chippy near the ground and if my memory served me right a few other types of takeway as well.
I have seen 3 matches there including Red Star Belgrade playing a pre season friendly while I was working there on year. at least I think that was the one.
