My view from the family stand

Post by Dave »

As a popside season ticket holder it's not often I get chance to watch a game from a different area, in the family stand today , got a clear view as to what was going on in our penalty area, and could hear clearly what was being said between the players as well.

As fan's we have called for greater communication and leadership in defence as we have leaked a few soft goals , well its clear to me being up close and personal today rather than being on the popside, if communication and leadership was a problem, it is no longer.

Bobby's communication with the defence was first class, got the information out early and never stopped talking to the defender until the danger was cleared, you can see the confidence is coming back into Mark Ellis, as he is once again showing us what he is capable of, after a few shockers last term.

Right now however I want to talk about Brian Saah, I realised a few things today, he does actually communicate well with his other defenders, and was doing a lot of organising back there, today I thought that was his best game from what i have seen, and maybe he to is beginning to find some confidence, Chris Robertson has done nothing wrong in my view, is Saah benefiting from playing next to Ellis?

Lastly atmosphere I have realised something else today, the noise does carry out around the ground from the popside, I heard clearly you Yellow Army lads down by the away end up in the family stand, so it may not be the atmosphere killer I thought it was, there is a problem with the noise carrying around the popside though, would a system of microphones and speakers to carry the noise around the popside be a daft idea? Would it work any thoughts from the singers and other fans on that.

I was in the popside today and the Yellow army singers sounded about three miles away! It doesn't work at all. The few singers in the family stand sounded louder. It was so quiet at times . I could hear the conversation between players too.

interesting view on the atmosphere

i stand around the half way line and the only thing that was poor imo today was the noise from the crowd, very poor

having the singers near the away end just doesnt work, being all together encourages more to join in

and this idea that its for banter( or just stickin the Vs to the opposition ) is laughable

Yep, great to finally put a face to the famous name "Dutchgull" today, wasn't it great to get those 3 points ;-)

As I was sitting with forevertufc today I can only confirm everything he said. Saah looked the part today, was clearly talking to Ellis and Oastler and also exchanging views with Olejnik, I really hope the faith shown by TCP and some of the other Cambridge fans is about to be repaid by Saah, he certainly owes us a few good performances and that one today is one to tick off the list. He also surprised me with how athletic his build is from much closer today, he's always looked a bit of a porker from afar, quite misleading.

It was pretty enlightening being so close to the action today, I noticed a lot of things that I've never noticed from the Popside (the singers I've mentioned on the Yellow Army board, and the communication I've already alluded to, I was also impressed with Bobby's handling and positioning, he really does look a quality keeper for this level.

Lastly, a big thankyou to Dean Edwards and all the staff at the Club today. The service was excellent, the food superb and the whole experience was first class, many thanks to the Matchball Sponsor Steve (Exilegull) for kindly inviting me, I hope to return the gesture somewhere down the line.

Also like to add my thanks to Steve Exilegull, and the club, number 10's is well worth a visit.

I was in the family stand yesterday after deciding to take advantage of the Kid for a quid and took my eldest to the game. I'm a Popside ST holder and usually when on the popside, the noise sounds great but I have to agree with others that if you're elsewhere in the ground, you can't hear anything.

At one point, I could see the young lads down the far end, bouncing and presumably singing but I couldn't hear a thing. The noise from our fans was very poor yet I could hear the away fans singing.

On the subject of Saah, whilst not being totally confident in him, he has played reasonably well in the past two games. The reason for this, I believe, is having Ellis alongside him. He was immense yesterday and fully deserved his MOTM award.
TUFC never fails to let its fanbase down.

27/08/18 - Time to step back from this shambles and focus on things in life that make me happy. TUFC doesn't.
