always a slight concern for me at the level our lads get loaned out too, however i suppose geographically it's an issue for short term deals. Spear needs to go out on loan and 'beef up' from what i've heard so that sort of football would probably do the job.
To be fair Bideford are having a good season this time around - I think 3rd in the league, coming off the back of ending leaders Hungerford's unbeaten start to the season.
Granted it's not the greatest level of football, but he's a first year pro so it's a good opportunity to cut his teeth in the mans game. Let's see how he gets on.

Good Luck to Spear, I think that in the future he could be a very good player. What I've seen of him, he already looks like a decent footballer. If he gets some good week in week out football experience in a competitive league, I think he could come back to the football league a do a good job.
Good Luck at Bideford Ray Spear!

It said "Bidford" earlier. Theyve since edited to spell it correctly since.ferrarilover wrote: If irony could kill...

It is a good move for Ray, who needs to play some "adult" football.
It is worth remembering that Bideford are Devon's best placed non league team by some way and Ray would get some match experience playing alongside the likes of Laight and Hockley and a host of up and coming youngsters. He has something to prove and this will be no walk in the park for him. They are the sort of club that will treat him right and in my opinion should certainly be a club we use before Tiverton who currently are quite shocking both on and off the pitch.
There may be calls for Ray to be loaned out to a higher placed team, but there is no point sending a youngster out on loan for them to sit on the bench and I do not really think Ray is ready for Conference level football, where almost all the clubs are full time with enough extra players to leave half a dozen not even on the bench on a Saturday.

A bit unsure for me...
Yeoman went to Bideford and did very well by all accounts, finding the net more than a goal a game (i think?). And yet when he returned, still not near the first team, so it seemed as if Buckle definietly didn't rate that standard of football. For me, after that kind of form, Yeoman should have come back to sit on our bench, as he clearly knew where the net was.
Wonder what is going to happen to Yeoman now. He clearly cut it at that level but it seems no one is ready to take a punt on him from higher up the pyramid.

On the subject of the nippers in general, and going back a week or so, I'm a little disappointed that, against dreadful Hereford and at a very comfortable 3/4-0 against AFCW, we didn't give at least Spear a run out. He could happily have had 30 mins against AFC and the full second half against Hereford, that's 5/6ths of a full match in a week, all good practice for the lad.

Exactly what i thought and said at the time Matt, although more about Halpin.
As Halpin was on the bench i thought it would do him (and the team) no harm at all by giving him a good 20 minutes to run around and show what he's about. Instead, Atieno was brought on and spurned a good chance, time to give the youngster that kind of chance to play without fear for the first team.

Hahahaha, I love Bix, he might be the worst gambler on Earth and generally quite dull with it, but he sure is funny sometimes.
Any tips for the coming weekend?
