Not a rumour as such as he played for our Reserves in the 4-2 win against Cheltenham yesterday and the Herald confirm he is training with us. By way of background he used to be with Bristol Rovers as a youth player and got offered a professional contract with them but was then released after a year. It seems he then spent time with the Glenn Hoddle Academy out in Spain before returning to the UK.
A bit more about him (after a google search) reveals that he was on trial with Argyle in the summer - obviously came to nothing - but it turns out he is a "local" lad having attended Brixham Community College. So I guess he is now back home trying out with us. I thought he looked good alongside Aldred yesterday (couldn't do anything about the 2 goals) and certainly looked confident on the ball. Whether we need another centre half remains to be seen as we already have Ellis, Robertson, Saah and Palmer - but I'm not sure what the situation is with Palmer and when his contract with us expires and whether or not he figures in Martin Ling's plans? I guess if he doesn't then there may well be room for another centre back in our squad. Both Ellis and Robertson are also out of contract in the summer and although we would get a fee in the event of Ellis turning down a new contract with us in the summer that wouldn't be the case with Robbo who would be free to leave for nothing. I know there was some talk a few weeks back of new deals being offered to the likes of Manse, Nico and Robbo (at the same time as EOK signed his) but have heard nothing since. I suppose if either Ellis or Robbo were planning on leaving next summer then trying to flog them in January might be under consideration? Hopefully not, but it may be why Lingy is having a look at a couple (Aldred and Cayford) of options in this position.
