Conference south

Post by Neal »

Went to see Sillsy and Bayes play for Basingstoke against Chelmsford yesterday.

Any of you who moan about entertainment and quality, take some advice and pop along to a conf south or north game one w/e. You will be clammering to get to Plainmoor for some real quality, BELIEVE ME, it aint good.

However, I do my small part to support the lower leagues when I can when Im not at Plainmoor.

Sillsy had some good touches but I dont think he is this level ,and to me didnt really look happy. He is still conference level and its a shame to see him at this level. Bayes is captain of Basingstoke and to be fair, very good, very vocal, safe hands, and in control. He would still do a good job as a 2nd choice in my opinion at a better level.

Was talking to some locals and these guys get about £250 a week, with one or 2 on a bit more. They train twice a week and play on Saturday, aint bad when you think about it. Get another job and you can have a decent income.

Just thought I would share this with you

I don't think the standard is THAT bad. I think BSN/S is better than non-league in a lot of other countries, although, admittedly, that opinion is only based on seeing a little bit of non-league foreign football online.

I'm also surprised Sillsy has dropped that low. You'd think people would notice that he scored for fun with us, which i think was mainly due to his long run in the side, so he could grow in confidence. He only really played bit-parts once he got back to the football league, and i don't think that suits his game.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...
