Plainmoor Tours

As the clamour for stadium and 'behind the scenes' club tours grows, would anyone out there pay for a round trip of Plainmoor including tour of dressing rooms and the like followed by meeting a few of the players and rounding it all of nicely with a photo of you with player (s) of your choice and autograph? I tell you what, i'd do it, i'd bloody well do it and i reckon i'd enjoy something for once. Up to now the only things i have truly enjoyed in football are both recent Torquay promotions, England not qualifying for major tournaments, having the proud knowledge that Austria is the only footballing nation to have scored in the 90th minute of every World Cup group game ( France 98 - Toni Polster bullet header v Cameroon / Ivica Vastic twist and curler into top corner v Chile / Andreas Herzog's penalty conversion v Italy ) AND winning money on football betting. I reckon the Plainmoor Tour, it even rhymes man, WILL be a winner. It will be especially popular with the young uns and obviously uptake will be minimal due to our restrictive fanbase but we could advertise them in hotels, b&b's and guesthouses in the area for footy mad japanese tourists!! We'd make a fortune i'm telling you, its the future! Where do i sign up?!!! :keepie:

While it's a good idea in theory i'm not sure there would be enough interest in the long run.

I'm sure many of us fans would be keen to go once to get a look around the ground (and the new stand!) but once we'd done it, it is unlikely anyone would come back for a long while. Do we get enough tourists in to offer this long term? I'd say no.

I do think it'd be a good idea to offer it for say a month every year though, perhaps during pre-season? That would at least mean tours are more packed and the club could charge a bit more.

I agree, there wouldn't be enough interest to warrant more than once a year.

By the way (being pedantic here) the Plainmoor Tour: it may rhyme in Scotland, but down here it's more of an assonance.. ;-)

Done the "tour" many times, both on the way up and on the way down :

York (previously the United and O'Connors, now Alibi)
Union
White Hart (demolished, now housing)
Fortune of War
Torquay United Supporters Club (now Boots & Laces)

:clown:  ;-)
