Your support is effin s**t!

Last night i had a a free evening so thought i would take in the Chesterfield v Oldham game at the B2Net in the JPT Northern Area semi first leg. I went and sat with the Oldham fans of which there were about 1000. I honestly can say that apart from having my photo taken in the Gorilla enclosure at Howletts a few years ago, i have never in my life stood alongside so many knuckledraggers!! I'm sure there were quite a few genuine Oldham fans there but 85% of them weren't even human. What struck me was the general demographic of the fanbase there almost entirely consisting of large groups of under 30's wearing the same stuff and bald-headed ( sorry Dave ) tattoed neanderthals over 40 who struggled to speak with any cohesion just simply content to blurt out random outbursts of expletives. There were hardly any families, hardly any dads and kids or elderly folk / couples.
I queued up for 20 minutes prior to kick off for a pie ( just one Troj ) and a coffee and had to go round the front of the Oldham fans about a minute in to get to my seat. As i was passing a hefty group of aforementioned Latics youth, one of them shouted,' end his f*****g career!!!' to an Oldham defender making a challenge on an opponent. This set the tone really for the rest of the game. Frequently they would surge forward in large numbers almost making a line across behind the goal in front of the stewards. One lad who had a hoodie on reminded me of a chicken as all i could see was this cream hood lurching forwards and back again! He was no doubt effin and blinding and spitting but not sure if it was in sync.
![LOL ](./images/smilies/lol.gif)
. Basically i was well out of it sat at the back on the wing but it was a sad sight to see and i'm so fortunate not to have any of these primates as my neighbours. In fact primates are very intelligent so perhaps i shouldn't compare them and Oldham fans in the same sentence.
Character assassinations aside i then decided to gauge the level and frequency of their vocal support and support in general throughout the evening and try and compare it to ours albeit our support away is generally much less than half that were there in the Oldham ranks last night. Basically their vocal support amounted to 'Come on Oldham, Come on Oldham' being sang loudly about three times at corners and free kicks before tamely petering out. There was also a super Robbie Simpson chant when he scored. THAT'S IT! No songs about rivals , no ribbing the Chesterfield fans apart for vile abuse and no amusing ditties. Also i noticed that the persoanl level of support for the players was non-existent, choosing to constantly jeer and groan at every misplaced pass or poor shot. We generally make far more noise, far more often and sing a variety of different songs at away games even if there are just 200 of us. I think what i am trying to say is that our support is magnificent and fair.
Also our away fans consist of a wide variety of FRIENDLY folk and i feel great to surrounded by TUFC fans. We should be proud of our following and the esteem in which we are held by other clubs.
Has anyone else noticed poor away support for any other clubs fans that you may have sat/stood with?

Not so much the surport in terms of people there because theyve all been good when Ive gone to neutral games. But Southport fans at Exshitter were quite amusing due to there negativity. They lost 5-0 and there was only small amount of them all chanting "were sh*t and we know we are" amonst there few chants.

I'm sure you blended in nicely. :na:
Seriosuly though, standing unsegregated with the Lewes FC fans at the Dripping Pan when we beat them 1-0, there were more of us than them, and they were so bad they started chanting with us for TUFC.
Matt.

I remember that. Nice club Lewes. Remember some joined in with them chanting for there manager out. We took a good amount there for a Tuesday night the open terrace behind the goal in the first half seemed quite full and was mainly Torquay fans in there!

Maybe sometimes we do not apreciate the club we have. A really decent set of supporters with fans of some intelligance (with the odd exception I suppose) More than a little humour. Jokes and light hearted banter and generaly an air of respect.
Ok there have been the couple of neanderthals on here from our lot. I am not counting the neanderthals from other teams.
I find this forum one of if not the best to be on as it always seems to have either an intelligent idea comment or whit of wisdom about it. even allowing for the orange one and veiws which sometimes make it look as If Stalin would have a run for his money. I always look to our forum before I do anything else to see what gems are on today.
I don't usualy find much to entertain on any other forum maybe with the exception of a couple of threads on the Rovers forum in the last couple of days which had me chuckle. nice to see their humour returning.
There are still unfortunatly some clubs, Mainly up Norf. which seem to still be stuck in the old holligan type mould where the fans only seem to be there to see what trouble can be stirred up

i'll be able to run the rule over the Bournemouth fans this evening as i'm going to the B2Net again for the Chesterfield v Bournemouth game. I'm gonna go and sit with the Bournemouth fans and see if they sing like we do on a cold, northern night night! I'm sure the Bournemouth fans will be more convivial than many of the 'oxygen thieves' in the Oldham end last week! Here's hoping for a cracking away win to root the Spireites further to the foot of league 2. (Knowing my luck we'll go up and they'll come down - like ships in the night ).

What a dire game of football punctuated with a world class thunderbolt that gave the Spireites the 1-0 win. It was freezing, the toilets were overflowing ( BEFORE i had chance to visit i may add ) and the Bournemouth fans and myself were sandwiched in the wing of the Co-Op side stand. The same stand we were in for our FA Cup game.
Anyway, the Bournemouth fans, of which a hefty few had made their inaugural trip to the B2Net, were bland. It was good to see a healthy smattering of old and young, male and female; however, they still had a few boneheads in the Oldham mould that let the side down. I say a few, probably about 50 in a crowd of 300ish.
One bloke shouted, 'break his legs' whilst others kept on chanting,'Jippo,Jippo' at Chezzy goalie Tommy Lee simply because he has long hair. Whilst the former chant is downright ugly, the second is just a waste of breath and i thought it went out with the ark. NOBODY shouts JIPPO anymore as it has been done to death, has no effect AND makes the people singing it look like a shoal of guppies. I have never, ever heard this from a Torquay crowd and i'd like it to stay that way, we KNOW that it's not the way forward and we'd look like phalli. Another song was, 'we've got more boys than you, we've got more boys than you' which on the face of it looked a blatant lie as they were all fannies.
Other songs that were sung by the very few were 'you're support is effin shit' and 'we forgot that you were here'. Basically a mind numbing experience and that was before you take into account how cack the match was. Obvious credit to the Bourenmouth fans who attended but our support is a thousand times better, louder with less, more frequent, more prolonged, more fans getting involved, more variety, less banal idiocy and more passion. I'm not saying we're the best but we are a cut above Oldham Athletic and AFC Bournemouth for a kick off.
Lastly i just want to pass comment on the difference between league two and league one on the basis of my two games. Chesterfield were abysmal tonight and played worse than when we beat them, you can guess then that Bournemouth weren't good either. We would have annihilated either team tonight. The only difference i have noticed is the pace of the game is that bit quicker but in terms of skill and quality of football, nothing separates.

Are you feeling ok Andy? used 'convivial' earlier, now you appear to have correctly pluralised 'phallic'. It does rather beg the question as to why someone so very clearly not a thick, northern **** would choose to live in Chesterfield?
Matt.

I didn't choose to live here Matt, it just went that way. Chesterfield isn't really that bad compared to places like Mansfield, Rotherham, Sheffield, Donny, Barnsley, Derby. I grew up in and around Donny and Hull and i'm a million times better off living here i can tell you! It's a small market town with not a lot going on but it is generally safe, not too grim, has lots of friendly folk and i can be in the peak district within 10 minutes which is great. Hopefully i can get to live in the West Country before i perish as that has always been my idea of where i want to live but for now with job opportunities scarce, rents going through the roof, money tight and banks just twats i'll have to sit tight oop 'ere forrabit. I'llget there eventually Matt, it's just a matter of time.

Had the 'pleasure' of sitting with a load of cockneys for tonight's L1 game at the B2Net Chesterfield v Charlton. Thought i'd go as there was nowt else to do, could have watched Prisoners Wives on BBC but i'd rather spend an hour stuck in a lift with Louis Spence. Both are harbingers of exhaustive trauma. A bit like tonights game really. It was 4-0 to the Addicks but the game was pants and was brightened up by the exquisite finishing of Bradders W Phillips and a scintillating performance by GREEN for Charlton, don't know his first name but he ran the show. Class. The rest of the Charlton play and players were atrocious and i can't understand why they are top of the league based on this performance. A bit odd saying that when they've just won 4-0 away!
I like to go and sit with the away fans when i go to Chesterfield as it gives me a chance to join in banter and compare support of various clubs. I should actually rename this thread,'ANDY GOES TO THE B2NET AGAIN AND RUNS THE RULE OVER THE FANS OF.............OLDHAM, CHARLTON, BOURNEMOUTH' or whatever. Anyway, apart from the stewards in the away end starting to recognise me and forming an opinion that i may be some sort of oddball, either that or they think i have multiple doppelgangers, the short sojourn to the B2Net is enjoyable. If its cold or a shit game i can leave after 75 and be in my living room before the game ends! Marvelloso SPLENDIDO!!!!
Onto tonight, About 1000 jellied eeled, apples and pears, awright, landaners in the away end. A central 'core' of singers with a drummer and despite my pre-conceptions about Londoners, most looked normal and were polite, even the lads in large groups who were polite when wanting me to stand up to let them past. Their songs were ok, they even sang one to the tune of Rihannas 'We fell in love in a hopeless place' which went 'We won the game in a hopeless place'. This i found puzzling as i live in Chesterfield and unlike South London i can open my front door without the immediate risk of being knifed to death on my doorstep AND i can stop 5 strangers in the street safe in the knowledge that they will be able to converse in English. On top of that, if i drive 10 miles from my house i can be in a scenic peak district village whilst they can be in Wimbledon. Hopeless Chesterfield certainly is not.
For an ex-Prem league club and one which is clear at the top of league 1 i was disappointed. Yes it's a long way from London and yes it's a night game but we would be louder with fewer. We're the best!!!!
VITALLY IMPORTANT: The reference to one of Rihannas songs is in no way indicative of my musical preference nor any knowledge of modern British chart music. As someone who listens to Rammstein, Metallica, Napalm Death, Raging Speedhorn and others , to admit to exposing my tympanic membranes to such 'popular' cack and actually recognising them would demean my whole humanity. I do recognise the Rihanna song but i'm sorry!
