In fairness the pitch is probably o.k under all that lot - ironically if they leave it on for the week and clear it next friday it will stand a better chance.

However, the stands and surrounding area are a different matter

no snow is what they are saying for next week. They have a week to sort it out, a bit of sunlight and a couple of shovels will sort the one out, i would say 70% it would be on

really really hope its on as its my closest game and a few of us are heading down from sheffield, dont think any of them would come with me on a tuesday night in february tho!!

we had between 18" and 2 feet of snow here at its peak, however the thaw has definately started in earnest now, tons has slipped off our roof in last 24 hours, taking the soil waste pipe with it unfortunately, got it secured to house with matildas spare lead at the moment!!

very hopeful that the thaw will continue, all main roads are fine and the grass up the park feels soft to the touch under the snow, and we're loads higher than chesterfield too

Even if the pitch is cleared, the Elf & safety lot will have a go about the car park.

Cant see it being on to be honest. I'd imagine theres quite a good chance the Pitch could be frozen anyway once they remove the snow? I listened to an interview with there Stadium Manager last night on there version of Gulls Player and he said it had been "minus double figures" most of time time. And that the roads and surrounding areas could be a problem for safety. And that he didnt know what they were going to do with the snow as it has 8 inches of snow on the pitch (reduced from 17!).

I hope its on but I fear it could be another postponement.

I m wondering whether we have a practice match arranged (behind closed doors or not) against one of our local rivals or local Western League or SWPL teams, be it on a playable pitch or artificial surface.

Practice matches played at tempo in training are all good and well, but against another team must be better? If, as looks likely, we re not going to get the games in, then we ll need to get a full on match in from somewhere?

Just my thoughts. Anybody got any news/info on this ?

Would love to see a local derby not only for the extra cash raised for the club but just because all these postponements are driving me crazy I NEED MY FOOTBALL FIX!!

its so cold here, and the snow that fell has frozen solid now, i really cant see the game going ahead. if it does i'd recommend everyone to wear ALL their coats to prevent hypothermia!

Personally I'd be delighted if the match was off. Chesterfield are smarting after two successive defeats, will want to prove they're still promotion contenders, and after a pretty stressful journey we could wind up with a thrashing. Chesterfield have scored many more home goals than anyone else in League 2...

On the official site it gives the date for the rearranged home game against Crewe :

Tuesday 11th January with a 7.45pm kick off.

Home games then against Rotherham, Cheltenham, Oxford, Carlisle and Crewe all in just under a calendar month. That is going to stretch the finances of the well off, let alone the financially challenged.

All the above games subject to way to early pitch inspections of course.
