Post by popside_yidlad »

Its getting closer and closer and im sure alot of us have been picking and choosing our squads im interested in seeing what the squad would be if we were to compile our thoughts.

Can everyone please make sure use vote option as I plan to close polls on day of squad announcement and compare the two

Another area I think we're lacking. Not many of the players listed are on form or in their respective teams regularly.

Yeh tbh really struggled. Nearly put Matty Phillips in, as wildcard it was that hard to pick

My other would be sturridge as I would use him from wide right. Have young wide left. So would have 2 wingers that cut in to support lone striker

He's not a knob though, is he. He happens to play for Manchester United, who you don't like, because they win things, and losers always hate winners. You're a Torquay fan, no one on Earth means less to you than Manchester United.

Adam Johnson, Theo Walcott, the Ox and Young. A devastating combination of acute skill and blinding speed. We aren't going to win the Euros, Spain are, but we will do more than admirably if we go there with a fresh approach and some real attacking intent. The one thing that no defender, no matter how good, can cope with, is pace, and if we bring on the Ox and Walcott with 20 minutes to go against a tiring German rear guard in the Quarters at a goal down, we'll be laughing.

I would imagine it's more to do with him practising for the Olympics Diving competition. Tom Daley has a run for his money on that one!

I have an automatic dislike to Ashley Young due to the only real team that I support in the Premier League is Villa, due to family connections. The way he dived against Villa at Old Trafford was probably the worst dive I've ever seen. Even Tom Daley would have been proud about that one! It was truly disgusting that he dived like that, especially against his former side. That's why I don't like him, however has got a lot of skill and would work well in a side with Ox, or Walcott on the opposite wing.

Really, worst dive ever, you don't watch much football, do you?
Off the top of my head, I'll give you Carroll about a month ago (might have been v Spurs), both of Gareth Bale's bookings this year, every single El Classico in the last dozen years and every time a player gets to the keeper and nicks the ball away.

Such is football these days, I don't like it, no one likes it, but let's not go overboard about one incident that we would see repeated a thousand times a year by teams from Man Utd down to the Dog and Duck.

Can i chuck Matt Jarvis into the mix?

A good quick winger with a fairly decent delivery on him. He's one of those players I think that if he was at a bigger club he would be in with a huge shout of a call up...

You could but honestly dont see him having a chance. He has been poor this year, Steven fletcher is a decent striker but not had the supply.

Not sure how Mr Kipling will feel about you throwing people into his cake mix, but good luck to you.

What about Ryan Jarvis?

Clearly my Matt Jarvis idea hasn't gone down well... Interesting, or perhaps not, that the votes seem most spread on this area of the team. Not one of those candidates has grabbed the public by the scruff of the neck and said "I'm playing well, take me to the Euros". Some people suggest the Ox has done this somewhat, but he simply doesn't play enough. He has a season in first team football at southampton and some bench appearances for Arsenal, not great by any stretch.

I reject that argument entirely. It's not his fault A, he's the age he is and has 'only' made it to the Premier League aged 18. Nor B, that Arsene Wenger is a crazy old French cat lady and couldn't pick an XI to beat an egg this year.

Chamberlain is absolute and utter class and he will tear it up on a top stage. We have wasted Walcott for a number of years, let's not make the same mistake with this guy. As you so correctly identify, it's not as though there are 5 or 6 ahead of him who are automatic selections. At best he is a real gem, at worst, WORST, he is the stand out act from a bad bunch. Either way, he's a hell of a prospect and probably the best we can muster.
