Top 5 stand ups

1. Michael McIntyre
2. Rob Brydon
3. Jason Byrne
4. Lee Mack
5. Micky Flanagan

Seen Frankie Boyle at Buxton Opera House too and he would have made it onto the list if he wasn't so excessively obscene. He was funny but jokes about missing and dead children are pretty sick and not accetable. Saw Rob Brydon at Buxton too and he ad libbed throughout, a true genius.

1. Lee Evans - some people don't like him, but I find him absolutely hilarious!
2. Michael McIntyre - absolutely brilliant and makes jokes on real life situations that everyone has experienced!
3. Milton Jones - a one-liner comedian, really funny. Some jokes are just stupid, by amusing.
4. Jack Dee - has a really dry sense of humour and is very hilarious with that sense of humour.
5. Omid Djalili - a part iranian comedian from London, very funny, especially when he talks about Iran and football.

Al Murray, Lee Mack, Micky Flanagan, Alan Davies and that Geordie who is on QI along with Alan Davies are also very funny too, but not my top 5.

1. Frank Skinner by a country mile. I laughed so much I couldn't breathe.
2. Jack Dee
3. Dara O'Brien
4. Frankie Boyle (saw his farewell tour, slightly disappointing compared to earlier stuff but still funny)
5. John Bishop

Plenty of other good comics about at the moment, Milton Jones, Michael McIntyre, Mickey Flanagan, Lee Mack, Ross Noble, Rich Hall, Hugh Dennis, Kevin Bridges, Fred McCauley, Zoe Lyons, Chris Addison, Russell Howard.

No room for Lee Evans, Peter Kaye or the totally unfunny Alan Davies on this list as to get on it you have to make me laugh at least once. :red:

Michael McIntyre, really? Just saying shit in a silly voice isn't funny.

Mickey Flanagan is very amusing, but Rhod Gilbert is by far and away the funniest man alive today. Everything he does is utterly superb.

Kevin Bridges was funny the one time I saw him, doing the thing about getting stabbed.

Sadly for modern comics, I still refer to Jasper Carrot's 2000 'Back to the Front' tour to be the funniest thing I've ever seen. That said, some of Tommy Cooper's stuff is very, very good.

Matt.

Carrot is quality Matt i agree, also not wanting to appear sexist but i just don't find female comics funny AT ALL. I don't know why but they make me cringe. They often have some on panel shows like Shappi Korsandi and others and they are appalling.

Completely agree Andy, I don't know what it is, but women comdeians just aren't funny IMHO. There was once a woman ventriloquist on some show on the BBC who was quite amusing and Sarah Millican is funny at times, but nothing like the male comedians.

Also, the Geordie comedian that is usually on QI that I mentioned in my other post is called Ross Noble.

Ross Noble is fantastic, saw him in Plymouth a few years ago. He has an inane ability to part-tell about 8 different stories and then instantly go back to exactly the right part of the first one. I quite like TIm Vine too, his one liners are genius at times.

Yes Tim Vine is a good one liner comdeian, Stewart Francis is another brilliant one liner IMO.

Showing your age there Troj my good fellow. No Tony Hancock?

Also Chubby Brown is an embarrassment and people find Billy Connelly funny including my mum. Got no idea why though.

Rhod Gilbert- the only comedian who has made my stomach ache through laughing so much.

Sean Lock - I really like his laid back style, verging every so often into the absurd. His comments on 8 out of 10 are usually the funniest.

Rich Hall- Very clever, a brilliant act, especially when he brings out his alter ego, 'Otis Lee Crenshaw'

Marcus Brigstocke- Get his show 'planet corduroy' if you haven't seen it, intelligent, political stand- up at its best.

Tim Vine - completely inoffensive, but plain daft. Clever puns which I steal on daily basis.

We are living in a time of prosperity for live comedy, so many good young comedians around, Reg D Hunter, Jon Richardson, Josh Widdicombe, Andrew Lawrence, Miles Jupp, Kevin Bridges all very funny people.

Ricky Gervais would have made the list for his first three shows alone, but his last one ruins his reputation, very lazy and reliant on recycled podcast material normally from the mouth of Karl Plkington.

NOT funny - Sarah Millican, Russell Howard, Omid Djalilli, Andy Parsons

Are you talking about alive, British comedians? cos I don't think any of the ones already mentioned would be anywhere near my list. Guys still going today, and this is really damn hard

Eddie Izzard
Aziz Ansari
Christopher Titus
Ray Romano
John Caparulo

if you're going all-time; it's

Mitch Hedberg
Eddie Izzard
George Carlin
Robert Schimmel
Richard Pryor

The 'british' list

Eddie Izzard
Jasper Carrott
Billy Connolly (pre-being an actor)
Stewart Lee
Bill Bailey

...although I've not seen a lot of the more recent stuff like Michael McIntyre, it must be said.

I saw Robin Williams do stand up once, and he was rubbish.
