MOTM - Oxford

The responses to this have tailed off a bit recently, which makes it much harder to compile any meaningful statistics from. So if you are reading this and you went to the game today, then please take just a few seconds to list up to 5 players who deserve some recognition for their performance today. I'll really appreciate your reply, and hopefully at the end of the season there will be an interesting look back over the year. Where else will you find out if Elliot Benyon's six months was better than Guy Branston's full season?

Stevens, Benyon, Mansell & Zebs could all have got in there aswell, to be honest.

yellowsmiffy wrote:Nick I am absolutely astounded that Robbo gets in there for you and Benyon (almost a hat trick) doesn't!?!?!?!?!?!? Zebs worst performance since he re-joined us and a top 5 contender??? Usually completely agree with everything you say, but that is madness mate!!!!
That's fair enough mate. I didn't really see Robbo do much wrong. Seemed to be effective in the air. Composed on the ball. He tried playing it out of defence instead of just hoofing it up.
As weird as it sounds, had I have seen Benners' first goal (which from what I heard he took very well) then he probably would have gotten in there. From what I did see, there was a lot of running, but he's always going to struggle up against defenders when the support is limited. On reflection, the two goals, and almost a hat-trick, should have been enough to see him in there.
As for Zebs; I didn't think his performance was all that bad. It was one of those games where the opposition definately clued up on him from the first minute. He was running alot, still causing problems. He got back helping out the defence, and when he had a bit of space, he used it effectively. No way was it his best performance, but I wouldn't say it was his worst.
EDIT: Just seen everyone elses top 4/5..
Was it just me who thought that Ellis had an absolute stormer then?!

Nah, that's fair enough about Zebs. I'll agree that he was nowhere near his best, and I'll also agree that his stupidity almost cost him a red card, when he kicked out at their player. I can't actually recall where their 3rd goal came from, only that Midson was free and Bevs cocked up. Could have been Zebs at fault, but I can't remember (bad for my age, that).

Check his body language out for the 3rd goal when he realises where Midson is...
