The 26th of October means only one thing...

Post by AustrianAndyGull »

IT'S AUSTRIAN NATIONAL DAY FOLKS! Just like your St Georges Day when hordes of unemployed wastrels wearing England shirts spend their day whiling away the hours in a grotty council estate pub yelling abuse at passers by and delighting in the archaic practise of wolf whistling at passing women accompanied by obligatory staffordshire bull terrier ( which no doubt hasn't been neutered, microchipped or vaccinated ). The Austrians are somewhat more reserved their celebrations in the sense that they tend not to attack each other after a few steins have been sunk. I shall be rejoicing in the frivolity with some Stiegl lager, a knackwurst for later and making the dinner with my little one. It's the classic Wienerschnitzel that i am teaching her to make but i use pork. Traditionally it is veal that is used but i wouldn't like to be kept in a crate and slaughtered soon after birth so i don't use the stuff. Many Austrian restaurants now use pork also. Rose veal is proving popular now though and with ethical husbandry methods replacing basic cruelty and barbarity, veal is making a comeback.

This evening i might watch the DVD of Austrian football highlights in celebration but sadly it only consists of the 2-2 draw we got in Vienna against England a few years back and an Andreas Herzog thunderbolt against the Swedes which enabled us to qualify for the France 98 World Cup!
I've deleted the match highlights from the Faroe Islands game in the early 90's when they got their first EVER competetive victory against us. :'(

After that it's the Sound Of Music followed by The Third Man and finished off with a rendition of Strauss' The Blue Danube on my little uns playskool glockenspiel.

It's gonna be quite a night! Buckle up and hang on tight!!

( Or i could just say, 'oh sod all this for a game of yahtzee, i'm off round Donny with a few pals to get battered on shots, vomit outside Debenhams and get me head caved in by an inebriated chav and then try and hail a taxi for 3 hours after having a rank burger which caused the biliousness'

A REAL quality British evening out, you can't beat it!

OH and i must remember to let the rest of my family out og the cellar when i get up in the morning coz i'm always doing that. :O
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Jeez! The next thing we'll hear is that you'll be emigrating there; we'd never hear the last of that!

St George's Day...?? What's that...??

I always celebrate St Krishna's Day - with a traditional British Curry...!!
In remembrance of the good old days of the Raj, don't y'know..!!

Nah he don't know the meaning of the word.
In reality the 26th of October is famous for only one thing. it was the day after MARLONS birthday. He of the Daily Mirror cartoon "The Perishers" it was a day of nashnul rejoicin. in truth it is the day after the 25th and the day before the 27th and nothin more. well except it's near enough a month before mine. another day of Nashunal rejoicin.

I've celebrated Austrian National Day by invading Poland and locking my family in a cellar for 20 years.

I have to counter that invasion and liberate Poland before someone declares war again. The last time resulted in rationing. fippin eckythump it feels like we are on the verge of rationing now. Things are hard enough now without resorting to rationing.
So I am going to kick Heavan and Hele out and lock you in a cellar for the next 40 years. By then you should be too damned old to invade anything more than your own underpants. Or Matt's. Yul now there's a thought. fancy having to face Orange pants.
