Referees

I was just wondering, how often do referees have their eyes tested?
If we are required to have excellent eyesight for driving purposes, then it's surely just as important for referees to have the clarity of vision needed to see whether a ball has, or has not, crossed the line, or whether it's a deliberate or a fair foul...
Do referees have to prove their far-sightedness, as we have to do in a driving test? Some of the actions of referees I've seen give me cause for doubt... I know we all have different viewpoints from the ref in a game, and the ref's job ain't always easy, but I'm sure you've seen a few referees' odd decisions too, and wondered about his eyesight...?
Or perhaps I should try and find my way to an optician? Just a thought...
