Eunan's comments.

Eunan was a keen spectator tonight and whilst it is always nice for ex players to come and show their support to their former clubs I was a little baffled, dismayed even by his comments after the game.
'I did think is was very very disrespectful to to sing 'Alan knills yellow army' it's Martin lings team! #disappointing'
Its admirable that Eunan is remaining faithful to a manager who helped develop him so much last season but I can't for the life of me understand how it is disrespectful to get behind the man charged with keeping us in the football league? As we have been largely kept in the dark about Mr Ling's absence all we can do is wish him all the very best in getting back to full health and get behind the man currently being referred to as 'Torquay United Manager'
I really don't think disrespect is on anyone's agenda at the moment, and its a shame if football players see fans in this light?. I think Eunan is a top player and showed great service and respect to our club whilst he was with us, I am delighted that he is performing consistently in league one, many TUFC fans follow his progress with great interest. I don't want this to become an O'Kane bashing thread but I have to say his tweets put a dampener on my mood on the way home.

I tweeted him back explaining to him what bollocks I thought his comments were.

I have the greatest respect for Eunan as a player and, for that matter, for Martin Ling as a manager, but Eunan has got it wrong here. Alan Knill has been in charge of the team for a few weeks, and has been picking the team while Lingy is off sick, so for as long as that situation remains, it's obviously Knill's Yellow Army. No disrespect to Lingy is intended at all. Eunan's the only one who seems to think otherwise. Sorry Eunan, you are in error.

I also saw the comments, to be honest I think it's a non issue, Eunan has been and gone, his opinion is irrelevant about us as fans or the club as a whole.
He was amazing for us and I have full respect for the lad but if he's offended by Alan Knill having a song sung about him (completely deserved) then maybe he shouldn't tweet about it as us fans will defend ourselves and our club.

You know me Ben, my response is probably a bit brutal but the bloke can p*ss off. He was amazing for us and we won't forget that but he's nothing to do with the club anymore so he shouldn't be sticking his oar in. I'm not interested in the slightest in what he has to say ( kinda like what most of you guys think about me on here :~D
) and what he said is total boll*cks anyway. As far as i'm concerned, Ling has been off for months now and for whatever reason the club has kept us in the dark as to what is happening so Knill has come in and we all now support Knill fully but obviously wishing Martin all the best and a full recovery. What are we as fans supposed to do? If we stay up it will be thanks to Knill and not Ling so why shouldn't we give the bloke all the support we can. After all, regardless of the Ling situation , our club goes on life goes on and this is where we're at now. It's not disrespectful at all IMO and his comments do the Irish, already the butt of loads of simpleton jokes no further good at all. A bad end to what has been a wonderful night but i've had my say and now i'm off to bed with a spring in my step until i fall over the cat on the stairs that is. ( Happened last night - bast*rds the lot of them!
)
Go back to Dorset Eunan, we're not interested.

I don't think he has really thought through his comments. At all.
I fail to see how it is disrespectful in the slightest. We have a new manager appointed. Ling has been absent for some months and us fans have been kept completely in the dark over what has been happening.
I am very disappointed in Eunan for saying this. It reinforces my opinion that most footballers really are fairly thick. I only make that suggestion as the only possible 'reason' you could give for his comments is that he simply doesn't understand the situation.

Yes, but Eunan is not thick. He's Irish.

On BBC radio Sheffield tonight they said Lingy was at the Oxford V Chesterfield on Saturday .. So he is mobile and able to brace the cold (so it seems). I really don't understand what going on with him now, I do hope he is well but the future of my club is more important to me than he is (no offence intended).
Anyway I think Eunan will be more P1553d off with the people who tweeted him than the club as a whole now.

So Lingy's health continues to slowly improve. That's great. And he was spying on Chesterfield for us last Saturday. That's great too. And somebody said he was at the Barnet-Fleetwood game tonight. And we play Barnet in a month's time. Excellent!

I wasn't thinking of it like that Gullscorer, I see it the other way to be honest, if indeed it is the case that he is 'scouting' so to speak then why has no statement been released saying that he's nearly back to full health? .. This leads me to believe that this illness was/is stress related. He may have asked Eunan to come down and watch how we play! You never know haha joking of course.

Slightly misguided comments. He has moved on and now only has a passing interest in his former club and former friends/teammates/manager.
The fans and staff at the club now have 8 games to keep us in the football league. If the fans are getting behind the players and manager, then fantastic.

Don't mention the bar - the thread will be removed and you will be banned quicker than you can say "O'kane is a thick irish tosser".
Nice to see Martin is recovering well from his life threatening illness although I am not really sure why he has resigned!!
