The younger members of this forum won't remember just how longstanding their record of extreme violence is, usually away and usually on big occasions. Lock em up and throw away the key. Or just put them down, it would be cheaper.

Always been hooligans, always been trouble. But what do you expect when you put the tickets on general sale?

I would have thought tickets were on general sale for the majority of matches Millwall are involved in. I expect many of those involved would have got in a days drinking while waiting for the late kick off time of 5.15pm to come round, and that would have had more to do with them fancying a fight than the method used to acquire their ticket.

Agree, didn't the FA make a Liverpool / Everton cup tie a 12pm kick off the other year because of this?

I would have thought any major game Millwall would be involved in with fans coming in large numbers and given it was played in London with a 5.15pm kick off would have resulted in the same outcome. It's just that i don't get paid hundreds of thousands a year to make these ridiculous decisions. Shame, it's actually more difficult to make the wrong decision than the right one on this occasion. Still, the higher up the tree you get the more you lose touch with common sense i suppose.

John Motsons fault. He was the idiot who first muted that a semi final should be played at Wembley (Arse v Tot 1993), the Pigs (Sheff Utd to you) then wanted their semi final with Wednesday played there as well as they knew it was their only chance of going there (ironically the tie was due to be played at Bellend Rd but both sets of supporters protested much to the disdain of the (dirty) L**ds board, cant think why?) so it also was at Wembley. The FA saw yet another way of raking in more cash for themselves rather than the clubs like Villa, ManUre, Arse or even Wednesday themselves hosting cup semis and the rest as they say, is history.

Now, I seem to be rambling, but my point is that when Man City play Chelski the place is sold out.
Yesterdays game, as quoted, wasn't, and loads of tickets went on general sale for all the nutters and fookwits to buy and mingle with proper fans, hence the trouble. Old Trafford, Villa Park, Anfield, Hillsborough, Goodison, White Hart Lane et al could all have accomodated Millwall v Wigan with room to spare.
Should (but wont) be the last season the semis are held there.
