I see that Billy's Dad and one of Martin Ling's best mates, has sadly also been off work from his duties with Swindon Town's Academy for the past six weeks or so with stress.
He was in attendance at our game with Rovers on Saturday, as he has been on a number of occasions work permitting this season, to watch Billy play.
Bodin is considering suing Swindpn Town according to this article at least, for the damage to his health caused entirely it seems by the behaviour of Paulo Di Canio towards him during his time as Manager there. I can remember PDC having some pretty nasty things to say about Paul Bodin at the time we were trying to prise young Billy away and I felt the depth of animosity being expressed by Di Canio towards Bodin made his position with the STFC Academy almost untenable back then, so I am not particularly surprised that Bodin has sadly finally succumbed.
It is bad enough to be so highly critical of the job someone is doing behind "closed doors" particularly when that individual has achieved some success but to do so in conversations to the local media on more than one occasion is totally out of order in my opinion and I truly hope Bodin pursues his claim which I would think he has every chance of winning.
It is a sad reflection of the modern game that both Ling and Bodin, two decent men and both legends at Swindon Town from their playing days, have seen their seasons end like this ... something neither of them would surely have contemplated at the start of the season.
It also makes you fear for both of their futures in the game and their future well being. I should add that I don't think for one minute that Martin Ling suffered in the same way at TUFC, as we are far too nice! Quite simply, Di Canio comes across as a bully boy and I truly hope his managerial career in the top flight is short lived as I really don't rate him as a Manager (nice to see Villa put 6 past his lot on Monday) or quite frankly as a decent human being.
When you think what might have been .... I'm pretty sure that Paul Bodin, and no disrespect to Shaun Taylor intended here, would have been Lingy's first choice as Assistant Manager when he got the job here but he wasn't able to prise him away from Swindon even though from memory he (Bodin) was working without a contract at the time. It makes you wonder what might have been and whether if it had of happened things might have turned out very differently for both of them.
As with Lingy, I wish Paul Bodin all the best, and I wonder if they might team up together somewhere else in the near future. Let's hope so ....

Paul Bodin and Stress

I do not feel you will find 1 person who does not feel for Martin and hopes he has success in the future. He has many attributes which make him a likable manager and I now hope his demons are behind him and he can move forward with his managerial career. I also wish Paul the very best and sure he will find himself in better circumstances shortly.
I think it was right for the club and him to go their separate ways - for both parties and hope any resentment felt is only an this initial stage.
