Has anyone been here recently with kids and if so what was it like?
Thanks
(just doing some research into what I could do in devon with my kid if I came down for the weekend for the footy)

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

In addition, if anyone can recommend any places to go for 4 and half year old who likes to be active and not look at things (zoo's for example therefore wouldn't be suitable ) then i'd be most grateful. I've heard the weather is going to be nice at the weekend so a decent beach perhaps?

LET'S ALL SPEND THE DAY AT CREALEY! bellows the radio advert (not on Classic FM, you understand, but from time to time my man servant falls ill and, while the maid sweeps him into a neat pile in the corner and orders up a replacement from... wherever manservants come from, I am forced to mingle with you great unwashed and, from time to time, I hear the advert on inferior commercial radio).
Matt.

Woodlands is a good place to go but expensive. Paignton seafront has a very good play-park with lots of things for your son to play on.
Cockington is a good place to walk around, play football, explore the park/woods etc.Numerous good walks in Torbay if your lad likes walking.
Babbacombe Downs for a nice walk-can go down to Oddicombe beach or Anstey's cove from there:Or Meadfoot beach at the bottom of Wellswood.
Preston beach just along from Paignton beach is god as is Paignton beach itself.
Enjoy!

Haha btg, yes I do indeed have a little girl but thanks for your input anyway. Much appreciated.

I take it Matt thinks Crealy is sh*t then, I've never been but I've heard of it.
I thought about Woodlands because it is near Torquay and is a lot cheaper than Crealy. Normally i'd be with Matt in the sense that I hate kids theme parks and they are a total rip off ( I have one just a few miles from me in Matlock Bath - GULLIVERS KINGDOM which to be fair is really good but last year it was £14 for me and free for my little one and now we all have to pay full price which I wouldn't mind only full price is now £22 for some reason ). That is the reason I won't ever go to Gullivers again when otherwise i'd have gone. They just want to rob you nowadays.

There is an alternative guys. River Dart Country Park. near Ashburton. a large country park which accepts tourers and has some accomodation for visitors if you want a few days there, but also accepts day visitors.
It has vast grounds of rolling grass and woodlands with nature trails. Picnic areas. Adverture playground with assuault courses for varying ages. in fact the kids course seems to go on forever. It is based around the lake which has a shallow section where the kids can play on a raft as well.
I am not sure whether day visitors can use the heated outdoor swimming pool but there is so much to do that you wouldn't miss it if you couldn't use it anyway. My kids always asked to go there. It's not too expensive either.
There is also Babbabcombe, with the model village. It's got a football stadium in it with Chelsea playing Torquay United and when we are actually playing for real they display the score real time. (or did last time I was there) The stadium though is nothing like ours and is called Wombley. They also have a laser light show. a model railway running through it and loads of other things around the village. definately one of the best in the UK.
Goodrington beach is brilliant. The steam railways at both Buckfastleigh and Paignton are worth a ride. well Buckfasteigh is. the Paignton one really needs a tart up
Of course the one visit you really do have to make is to Matts stately home. I veritable treasure of wit and wisdom with an exhibiton hall of all his famous qoutes and posts. He may even grace you with an audience. provided you bow before him of course. lol
Gis a ring if you come down. I can help. I love kids and can show you these places.
