Favourite / Best Album...

Post by Pea »

Pretty self explanatory, BUT, just in case:
The Idea is to suggest your favourite album, or the best one you've listened to, and the reasons why.
Shoot people! :)

*This has nothing to do with the fact I'm bored at Uni and could do with some music inspiration.. 8-]

best album = quite a few queen ones, including greatest hits.

best non queen album = ACDC - Back In Black

best live album = queen - live at wembley.

best non queen greatest hits = any elvis presley best of/greatest hits compilation.

best soundtrack album = blues brothers or commitments.

Queen?
Awful, cheap anthem rock at its very worst. IMHO :-/

Agree Emet. I think the only positive accolade I can give to Queen is that they play instruments.

No doubt very good musicians, just awful anthemic crap for the easily lead masses.

I could write a better song the 'We will rock you' while taking a dump! :-/

not all of queens songs were anthemic and anyway i dont understand whats wrong with that, a few songs were purposely written that way. when you listen to their whole catalogue and body of work you wouldnt dismiss them as cheap, and its not just rock, there is a huge variety, more than any other band i can think of :| .

if you saw the amount of documentaries or read as many books about them as i have then you would probably look at them from a very different viewpoint.

anyway, im not getting into this debate again.

lets just agree we all have different tastes in music, each to their own etc. :)

There are only two albums which I like in their entirety.

Neil Diamond - The Best Years of our Lives and

Floyd - DSOTM.

Not sure I can explain my reasons for these but here goes:
XTC - Skylarking
PIL - Second edition/Metal Box
Boards of Canada - Music has the right to children
Red House Painters - Rollercoaster

That said I have been known to blast Queen's Greatest Hits in the car from time to time! :)

Top Five for me are:
The Clash-London Calling,
David Bowie-Ziggy Stardust,
Television-Marquee Moon,
Blur-Modern Life Is Rubbish,
Neil Young-After the Goldrush.
