I think were Hargreaves to get some positive feedback from the coaching staff and players who were here with Howe it would be a good idea to at least invite him down for a chat. It may be that Hargreaves can work with the attitude a find the player within, there is no doubting his ability.

Can't see this one happening to be honest. Quite simply because all the reasons why he (Howe) left us in the first place are presumably still there, namely a desire to be closer to his and his partner's home and the chance to earn more money than we could afford to pay him. I don't imagine either of those situations have changed in the last 6 months.

I thought, at the time, that the choice of Burton Albion was a poor one and it seems it has been although it would appear that the root of the problem is the relationship between him and the Manager Gary Rowett, more than anything else. I also speculated back in the summer that there was a distinct possibility that he would never hit the heights he did last season (particularly in the 1st half of that season under Martin Ling) again in his career and I still feel that may turn out to be the case, which in many ways would be a great shame and a waste of an undoubted talent.

Hope he can find somewhere where he can settle again, as he did with us for a couple of years, but wouldn't put any money on it and I don't think a return to us would work out either.

Rene Howe made his bed as far as Torquay United is concerned, let him lie in it. Some interesting thoughts here..http://www.thefootballforum.net/index.p ... rene-howe/

I heard Howe left Burton because of problems with his weight and keeping fit. Perhaps we should sign up Danny Stevens after all.. :)

Yep, how bizarre is that!

Never been quite sure where "home" is for Rene, I believe his partner is from the North East though .... but one thing's for sure, it sure as hell isn't Newport!!!

Just chasing the money, while he still can (just) I suppose, but another failure there and it will be all but over for Rene, I fear.
