tomorrow will be a strange afternoon as its the first round proper in the F A cup,Weston super mare and all the little teams hoping to make it into the next round and Torquay United are not there.OK we had our opportunity but were not good enough so I will sit in front of the TV and watch the results come through without a care in the world but in truth very disgruntled that we have missed the opportunity of making money. Its very strange that a lot of teams that we play seem to get players in before they play us,for instance Barnet have just appointed permanently Gary Waddock as first team trainer and have got a stricker in from Watford on loan.I have no confidence for Tuesdays clash on TV ,just hope we are not embaressed. We are a conference side but national nor southern is in the balance.

Was going to get my football fix at Kingsteignton 1st v Ivybridge tomorrow, now off to the Fred Hewing's cup match between Kings 2nds and Stoke Gabriel, as my laddo is the only keeper eligible to play in that competition he's been ask to help out.

You're right though, F.A Cup 1st round is magic for lower and non-league clubs and a real shame we're not in it. Interesting point about Barnet, the lad from Watford isn't the only player they've signed recently, and it does beg the question how have Barnet have managed to put together a team that looks likely to win the division and gain promotion to the football league for the third time in their history on half the gate numbers that we get.

It is very simple. Barnet are in London and we are in Devon!

Barnet have a huge choice of players prepared to play in the Capital but ask 50 players to come down to Torquay and 45 of them will not even consider such a move.

Get that, your forgetting one thing, money, no one gets the likes of Martin Allen, Gary Waddock, and Mensah on loan from Watford for free.

You know about business, Dave. Get hold of their accounts using your la-di-da "internet" and see how far in a hole they are. I'm guessing it's more than a million pounds. So, yeah, I guess, in a way, you do get Mad Dog et al for free, by simply not paying your bill (a bit like Argyle and their water rates).

Matt.

Meanwhile everyone treads all over us on the way past....

well that was a very pleasant afternoon with a good bottle of wine for lunch and a couple of scotches and sat in front of Geof Stelling and all the football results without a care in the world as Torquay did not feature so no watching us go behind and never catching up,my blood pressure and heart rate have never been better. With Bristol City winning and Rovers loosing and Barnet ending with nine men (are they suspended for Tuesday)and going out of the cup, the only black spot was the red team from Manchester won.So the strange afternoon was very agreeable, what a shame that Tuesday will ruin my good mood.

I am thinking that Torquay should be twined with Man City, not because we have the same status, support or finance but on the field we seem so similar. They have international players where as we have non league players but both make mistakes of the same proportion. They struggle to beat sides that should be easy meat just like us and underachive this season. The only other difference is they have the dosh and can buy themselves another player or two to achive results this season where as we are , well you know what I mean.

Well my plans for a football fix were well and truly stuffed by the weather as both Kings games and many more were called off. As for the situation at Barnet to honest not really that concerned, certainly not enough to go digging. Just thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone knew of a secret investor, or whether it is a genuine case of Barnet spending more money than they have. Because it doesn't matter their London based, although it helps, running at there level will have significant costs and how are they funding it on 1200 gates.
