This Ben Gerring? I saw the name and immediatly made the obvious connection. Slightly worrying to then see him blacked up!

He went to a party with the theme of sports stars.
He could have chosen any one of millions of white people throughout history. But he didn't, he chose Michael Jordan, a black guy, ahead of all others, as his sporting idol. And you think this makes him a racist? Somehow this means he likes black people less?
Top logic everyone.
Matt.

Yeah this is exactly the kind of player we need to being signing to move up the table....wait you mean we don't need to be signing players with only a handful of appearances at the level below us and spent most of their career in level 13 of the footballing pyramid???

Let's hope we remain injury free, Gus behaves and Smith remains with us for the season!

so he impressed Nico in the trial game, enough for him to invite Ben here to see if he can make the step up, but we supporters don't want to give him the chance ? Think that's what I'm reading above ?
If it doesn't work out, relax people; he hasn't got a contract !

I am all for giving players a chance, it would be great to unearth a few gems from lower leagues or local leagues, if they have played higher but not quite made it the first time around there is nothing to say they wont do the business. The club have obviously seen something in this guy so hopefully he will do well.
The thing that concerns me is what does all this mean for Oneil Odofin? We have had injury/suspension problems in centre back position and we have brought in and played a young loanee around the same age group instead, now we have called up a player with a chequered football career who has been scraping along at a much lower level. Is Oneil not ready or good enough? He has turned pro hasnt he, so why is he not getting a chance?

Good to see Nicho giving a local player a chance.
I'll judge him on his performances for the Gulls not on his previous clubs or choice of fancy dress outfit.
Best of luck to him.

You've got to trust the manager a few who are in the team now might not have been here if the directors had chosen another manager. Kevin may gamble on the lad and thats up to him and best of luck to the lad.

Agree. Why slate the lad before he has played. He could be the raw talent we need, that wants to earn a contract. When we signed Hawley we all saw the you tube clips of his goals and potential, well the rest is history. So rather than pay a **** £60k a year(estimate), this lad is on no contract, just give him a chance.

Christ, give the lad a chance! Just because he hasn't broke through yet doesn't mean he can't prove himself here.
In case you haven't noticed we're not exactly swimming in cash or that attractive a proposition for people to come here.
This is where we are. This the type of player we will be gambling on. The budget has to be stretched across the squad.
