We'll get a few peanuts for him, then, sometime in the future.. :-|
We'll have to find a keeper to replace him, of course. A good local amateur should do the trick..

Dan Lavercombe 'impressing' Bolton but no transfer deal confirmed

Torquay United's promising young goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe appears to be making the most of his chance to impress Championship club Bolton Wanderers - but a transfer deal has not yet surfaced, contrary to other reports.
Former Academy scholar Lavercombe, 18, has been on a training trial with the Trotters this week, and he was believed to be playing in a behind-closed-doors practice match at Bolton before returning to Plainmoor where the Gulls meet Lincoln City in the National League tomorrow.
"Dan has done very well up there, and they are very keen on him," said United player-manager Kevin Nicholson, who recalled Torquay-born Lavercombe to United's first team two games ago.
"He's got the build and the physique, although he's still developing that way, but the most impressive thing about him is his calmness and his character," Nicholson added
"He was impressing me with his attitude even when he wasn't in the side.
"He did very well at Altrincham (1-1) recently and again in horrible conditions for a 'keeper at Barrow (0-4) last week."
It seems that Bolton, struggling near the bottom of the Championship and with pressing financial problems, have first-refusal on Lavercombe, although they aren't the only club trailing him at the moment.
"If any deal happens, it must suit both clubs and Dan," commented Nicholson.

Only TUFC would tout their most highly prized asset to a Championship club who are floundering and have no money!
On one page you have "Lavercombe to Bolton on loan" reported, yet another Neil Lennon stating that Bolton "have no money - even for a loan player". Something isn't adding up!
I think a loan move - as the Beeb are reporting - makes no sense whatsoever. He won't get any game time for Bolton that he wouldn't get if he was just on trial, and we don't get any money out of it so we just lose all. The only move that would seem to make sense is for us to sell him for cold hard cash, and get him back on loan for the rest of the season.

Compare all this with Cheltenham's attitude to highly-rated Luke Thomas:

Well put Jeff. We certainly need funds to pay a new keeper. Please let him be experienced.

Cheltenham haven't run out of money. Yes, I certainly hope so for Dan's sake that this or another move comes off, loan move don't see the sense in that, even if the club taking him will pay his wages, he earns peanuts.
The only move that makes sense for both our club and the player is to sell him for hard cash, and get him safely out of Faulty towers FC, the days of clubs paying millions for bright young players are well behind us, there's a sliding scale now, so lets not get to excited over any fee. I personally hope for a good experienced keeper as well, but that's a dream now, I wouldn't be surprised if one bit if Scott Coderoy from Watcombe Wanders was signed, you wait until you see this lad, you'll seriously regret the day you shouted verbal abuse at Martin Rice, and will wish Ricey would come back.

Dan has now had trials at Liverpool and Bolton, his head will soon be turned by dressing room talk of what the other youngsters at both clubs earn and he will realise that he needs to get out of Torquay soon to avoid being left behind.
Once the players agent (I presume he has one) gets involved we'll lose him. My only fear is we'll hand him to Bolton or some other club on a plate.
We want a decent down payment and loads of add-ons!!!!!!!!! My message to the board is don't **** this up!!!!!!!!

oh you can bet they will screw this up, bolton are in sh-t street as well they havent got 2 pennies to scratch their ass with, so we will give him away get a couple of grand for him and add ons when they sell him , we will end up with a no2 keeper from newton spurs or somewhere like that.
this will all fit in well when we move our home games to windmill hill .

My theory is that the club will sell him for peanuts and the promise of a "lucrative" pre-season friendly where we get to recreate the 1989 Sherpa Van Trophy final.....imagine the marketing opportunities!!!!!
You heard it here first......

I thought I read this week that Bolton's owner is going to write off their £170 million debt? Well, there's not much difference between £170m and £170m + a fair fee for Dan.
He's playing first team football, has time left on his contract, is the perfect age for big clubs and has a lot of potential. We don't have to sell to the first team that expresses an interest. Even getting his name around this week helps us strengthen our position.
Getting a good deal for our talent is never something Torquay have done well though, so I don't hold out much hope. Maybe selling him with a loan-back for the season would be win/win? Keep him in goal and fund improvements elsewhere to give us hope of avoiding the drop and the end of the club as we know it.

He can't be sold until the January transfer window opens. Who knows what will happen between now and then.

I'm hoping someone has got their wires crossed and it's actually going to be a transfer to Bolton with a loan back to us until the end of the season.

Can't wait until:
A) we sell him for £20k and no add on, then he spends 6 weeks at Bolton before signing for Real Madrid in a £40m deal.
B) we sell him for £4.80 and a 25% sell on, then Bolton get relegated and release him for nothing at the end of the season and he signs for newly promoted Forest Green Rovers on a free.
C) he gets signed by Bolton and we agree a £1,000,000 fee. He goes out to celebrate, gets pissed, twats a stranger and ends up on loan at Guiseley instead.
Meanwhile, in Exeter:
Some kids you've never heard of does something unremarkable and goes to the Premier League for millions. Never makes an appearance and ends up at Truro. Regardless, City spunk the money on... Whatever the **** it is they manage to spend all their money on.
Matt.
