First challenge for the Government on this issue will be the First Round of the FA Cup next weekend, where there are non elite clubs involved. Could they feasibly continue to participate in the FA Cup while being unable to continue in their League?

Yeovil eliminated from F A Trophy which means we play Boreham Wood away in 4th Round on I think 16th January.

Boxing Day on I think.

Unfortunately Devon and more specifically Torbay will be placed into Tier 3

Hopefully football will continue at Plainmoor and we will have to be content with the streams!

Looks like the Boxing Day game could be the last time supporters were allowed to watch for some considerable time.

So today the National League met to discuss the rest of the season, does anyone know the outcomes (or was today only day one).

I understand many clubs the North / South League are not keen to continue the season, as the second half of the season is covered by a loan and not a grant, so needs paying back.

One National League club questioned how the season would be completed with over 30 games still to play (Dover at a guess).

Member Club to provide views on three points:
1. The operation of a Club Loan process.
2. The operation of a National League Loan.
3. A suspension to The National League 2020/21 season.

There will be many more mid table teams in our league questioning costs.

Fingers crossed this gets resolved.

It is my understanding that the government gave a 3 month grant to National League clubs, including both the North and South divisions of 11 million pounds to cover the first 3 months of the season ( October - December). The Government have now offered a further 11 million pounds for the next 3 months, January to March which is not a grant but instead a loan which has to be paid back at some stage. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and sport have said that the second payment, January to March was never promised as a grant unlike the payment in October, but is a loan.
The National League held a meeting with clubs yesterday ( Tuesday) and were speaking to clubs today to decide a way forward.
Many clubs fear bankruptcy and feel that they cannot continue and one of the options is to end the season now.
We should know more either tomorrow or on Friday.

NL,S and N have to submit a letter tomorrow stating what they want to do. 50/50 at this point. Next meeting Friday. Naturally some want to stop and otehrs want to continue. The problem is as above - the grants are now loans - hence the loss of appetite to continue without crowds

I've just read a statement from Mark Ives, the National League's interim General manager. Ives has given all 66 clubs 3 options.
1. Loan money to clubs at 2% interest to be repayed over a 20 year period, the first 2 years repayments would be interest free. I understand that the National league board has deemed this to be unsatisfactory.
2. The National league would take out a loan from Sport England and provide this money in the form of Grants ( it doesn't have to be repaid by the clubs)
3. The final option is to suspend the season and allow clubs to furlough their staff.
All 66 clubs have been asked which option they prefer and the National League board will meet again on Friday.
I hope this makes sense.
