I don't expect that his new club will pay a fee for him, & would not be surprised if Torquay don't have to keep paying most of his wages until his contract is up.
are you having a laugh??

i dont mind opinions, but im sorry mate i disagree.

he is league 2 standard at least on any day of the week.

i think that if we do sign pope then it will be a mistake. we NEED a goalscoring striker. we need someone who can get goals every game. not someone who has only scored 4 goals in 30 or so games.

Would you want him in your L2 side on his current form? I think not! Would not be amazed if he is loaned out for remainder of the season, possibly to B.S.P or Conference North or South team.

After confirmed budget cuts, we're never going to get a proven goalscorer at this level, and if we do, most likely he'll either be injury prone (don't go there) or past it (gritton). Someone like Pope, would be ideal. 6ft3 will always be useful, although we do play better on the deck and could form a little and large partnership with benyon? :)

Bishop on the other hand, is a proven scorer at this level. However, i reckon he's out of our budget range  .

im not talking about current form, as we all know its only temporary, whether its nicky wroe or wayne rooney.

his class is permanent, plenty enough for league 2 - wherever he is.

I would not see the signing of Tom Pope as a mistake,he 25 years old and as said above 6ft 3 in ,he played 56 games for crewe scoring 17 goals and Rotherham must have seen something they liked paying £150,000 for his services,Buckle has allways said he wanted along term replacement for Scott Rendell a player who could bring what Rendell did to our team ,holding up the ball ,linking in forwards, creating chances and poping in the odd goal,Tom Pope could be such a player.

Yeah I'd spotted that too. No source to it though, and remember it was Wikipedia that said Dean Keates was as good as wearing a yellow shirt..........

Define temporary, I can't remember the last good game he had, I think it was when "The Old King" was still around.
In any case time will tell, Grimsby are desperate for a decent B.S.P. midfielder, & a loan spell up North, may be just the thing. Not too far from Barnsley either so you will be able to pop over & see him. Good luck to him at his new club.

I'd be staggered if Wroe dropped back to the BSP. Form is temporary, class is permanent. If personal circumstance (which could be resolved by him moving back North) is what is holding him back - and clubs know this - I'd expect to see him at a League 2 rival at the very least.

Don't think that Torquay would want to loan him out to a team in the same div.

I don't think we WANT him to go anywhere at all. However if a team from League 2 approaches us with an offer to take Nicky on loan until Jan then sign him permanently - either in exchange for cash or a player Bucks wants - we won't be saying no.

On the money yet again, Jeff.

He's definitely better than a BSP player when playing well, and with his personal life happier, I'm sure he'll start to play to his full potential again.

Not sure why people are dismissing Pope so soon, Dario Gradi liked him enough to play him plenty of times and only let him go for a large fee for this level. If we could get Pope then that would represent good business as far as I'm concerned.
