Financial cost of relegation

Positive if BT were to take over the whole conference sponsorship and TV rights would have thought the £ and chance for us to be on telly would be decent!

Just to quote from the article;

Thea's son Alan - "But at the end of the meeting, clearly speaking on behalf of his mother, he said: “Our support will be unfaltering."

Don't think some people how amazingly lucky we are to have someone like Thea, I can't thank her enough
I am right to assume that the Bristows will be putting in £250,000 in order to balance the books?

I think the money from ST sales should not be ignored. It may seem like "only £250,000" but to a club like this it's a major source of income. We don't have the luxury of big sponsorship deals rolling in. I don't see Nike or Adidas scrapping over who will supply our kit next year.

Relegation will destroy the club in the short term. The board will have to be very strong over the next few months. It's going to be a very big test for them.

For me it's simple, stay up and I'll renew my ST. Go down and I'll pay the extra for a ST at Bristol City. I can't bring myself to travel down for home games against the likes of Salisbury and the Dog & Duck.
I haven't had value for money this year or last year, for that matter, and enough is enough.

Not sure if this has been said, just skimread through this, but BT have what Setanta had when we were there, so we'll get TV money there

Look at FGR front line Hughes and luke Rogders, they already outbid us!

This sadly isn't new information, quite a few have been posting for a while now, myself included, and to be honest most knew it. This is exactly why the no 1 priority had to be, should have been to stay in the League above everything else, and the main reason why, with out new investment our return to the conference is going to be far from a happy one.

The loss eventually will be greater than reported there, after 3 years in conference all our current funding will go, as reported on another site to the tune £845,000 a year once you include youth funding and everything else, sponsorship from BT sport and the odd TV game will amount to chicken feed, no doubt we will face a future where FGR will be able to outbid us for players. :'(

Tongue in cheek remark really.

We need a manager with experience, if we keep hold of Hargreaves for 4 or 5 seasons he may end up getting us promoted out of the Southern league.

My mate who advocates a 5 - 5 formation would have gotten more than 1 point in the last 6 games!

Agree cash flow is vital, especially in a struggling business, I suspect most league 2 clubs have spent their season ticket money by the time the first ball is kicked....but it is only a small contribution to the overall cost of the year.

Regarding renewing tickets, at least 2 of the 4 other people I sit near are not renewing.....others actions may determine my own as I really do not want to be sat by myself on a Tuesday night in February when we are playing Welling....it's not just the standard of football on display, its the commoradry amongst fellow supporters that can kill season ticket sales....if ever the club needed a rallying incentive at the end of the season this will be the time !

I, and others have listed the financial cost to the club a few times now, actually bored of it now, although it appears should the club pass May's audit it will keep the youth funding for three seasons so wrong on that score. Think you've missed the importance of season ticket sales there MidDevon, as I'm sure we are all aware, no gate money between May and august, season ticket sales is vital revenue that helps the club operate through these months.

That said after 8 seasons I will not be renewing mine, I just can not commit to 23 home conference match's this time around, if I had the money would renew and just use the season ticket as and when, but sadly I don't.

This has nothing to do with CH appointment, it was already decided before his appointment. He could hope for a miracle but to be honest that was never going to happen or was a tall order at best. This goes back to the debacle over Ling. The board did not handle situation properly and this ultimately was the start of the demise. Knill was appointed as some sort of messiah which didn't work out and unfortunately the board did not have confidence to release him when it was obvious he was not the person to do job, they continued backing a dead horse and left it to late for a successor to have any real opportunity to do anything. This is the downfall of the club making an error of judgement over Ling, no he didn't please everyone but he managed within his budget and played to the strength of what was available to him. I don't recall complaints when he beat Exeter and Plymouth.........where are we now, propping up the league, such a shame but the board must take responsibility, they created this mess or appeased it when perhaps they should have stood up and be counted, who knows where we would be now but it certainly wouldn't have been worse..............
