Confirmed New Signings for 2025/6

Looks a good signing

Appears PW can - as most knew - sign players from across the country...

Dilmond wrote: 12 May 2025, 08:21 Calm down Dave, you'll do yourself a disservice.

As usual we are doing things the safe way, or to be more precise, the Torquay United way! After escaping the clutches of Osborne we managed to fall into the safe hands of some United supporters. They in turn played it safe, and brought in a safe local manager, who in turn brought in a number of players that were local and he knew, so played it safe.

I am aware of budgets, I am aware of restraints, I am aware of location, I am aware of all the pitfalls that plague us.

I'm guessing that you're just content with going to the match on a Saturday, meeting up with likewise minded people and enjoying the day - whatever level we are competing in. I too would like to do exactly the same, but as I live in the arse-end of nowhere it's not possible.
You're doing a huge discredit to the Bryn Consortium, they've done more in a month than Uncle Clarke did in numerous years

They've already shown their commitment and ambition to improve all aspects of the club and that's despite not having a huge amount of football knowledge, some safer plays aren't a huge surprise whilst they get up to speed

But then of course it's easy to moan

Dilmond wrote: 11 May 2025, 07:40 "An opportunity to pick up a title winning player or 2!" Oh please!

"Who would be interested in playing / live locally!" Wouldn't that be lovely, being able to walk to play at Plainmoor on a Saturday from your own house!

There you have described why we play in the National League South, and until the owners, manager and supporters get out of this mentality, in the National League South we will continue to play!
And you appear to have no concept of what a budget is

There's no endless pot of money here, if we can pick up some squad depth for good money to then enable us to add some pace and quality - that's going to cost more - then I'm all for it

Rumoured Truro wanted 100K in the summer for him, he signed a "multi-year" contract in August

Dilmond wrote: 10 May 2025, 10:17 Oh no, is Wotton not aware that there are other clubs in the country that you can get players from?
Seeing as we signed a whole new squad last summer i think you know the answer to that

An opportunity to pick up a title winning player or 2 who would be interested in playing/ live locally / will fit into our budget structure sounds pretty sensible to me

They'll be a 1 or 2 in from Truro if a couple of rumours I've heard come true, their change of circumstance will leave some with a decision around their part time work

CourtierGull wrote: 08 May 2025, 13:38 Exeter have released both Angus Macdonald and cheik diabete, silly season indeed but would be 2 cracking signings if neither wanted to relocate and we could afford them.
Can't believe Angus McDonald keeps getting mentioned 0% chance he's coming here, played numerous times in L1 and well by all accounts reading a lot of Exeter fans comments on his departure - he isn't going to drop 3 leagues!

We do seem to be slightly obsessed with former players, I see Ben Wynters name knocking around too, hopefully PW continues to look forward, not back

Torquay United vs Boreham Wood

Dilmond wrote: 04 May 2025, 09:49 Oh dear, such petulance at the moment, with plebs and morons in ascendance it would seem.

Just a couple of things I have taken from the previous posts: 'not being promoted doesn't matter, because look at where we were at the end of last season!' We weren't promoted last season, and we haven't been promoted this season - so what's the difference?

I have found something to cap the above mentioned though: "The club doesn't belong at this level with this tremendous fan base!"

So that's the theory of Yin and Yang out of the window then!
Bizarre

Torquay United vs Boreham Wood

MellowYellow wrote: 03 May 2025, 18:49 Quickly moving on from the disappointment it is not unheard of for a good team to fall short due to very tough opponents and we all knew that Boreham Wood were just that. Having started with a blank sheet of paper at the beginning of the season to missing out on automatic promotion by goal difference was miraculous in itself. Were we really ready for the next level up? I saw enough matches, even the winning one's, to think not. A struggling Torquay United in the National League would quickly deflate the fans enthusiasm. Better to look at this season as one of development to push on for next season. With attendances at record highs we ought to be able to bring in a few high quality players to compliment our key squad players and strengthen our weak positions of which there are a number. For these reasons I cannot view todays defeat as failure but rather another stepping stone of better thing to come.I am already looking forward to next season.
:goodpost:

Gutted, can take losing if we'd given it a go but we were so far off the pace

Thought Young was terrible and I'm not sure what mussa was doing when he game on

The goal for them was coming, we needed changes earlier to had have an impact

Boreham wood deserved it, planning for next year begins!

Admiral wrote: 28 Apr 2025, 09:00 Is the capacity really 6500 as quoted on some websites?
Bristows - 1750 (minus a few for segregation)
Family stand - 1200

I’d say it’s probably around 6000, I seem to recall the standing capacity being reduced at some point.
Approx 5800 is my understanding
