Squad 2024/25

ALTE wrote: 03 Jun 2024, 23:48 Bit premature to say that dont you think. Who said these were the only defenders we are signing? We havent even got half a first team yet, let alone a squad and you are telling us we are midtable next season. Do you have a crystal ball that the rest of us are not privvy to?
Maybe read my post properly. We may well be signing further defenders but I am saying that if those 3 form the basis of our defence, I’d find that worrying and I don’t think it’s a title winning defence. I suggested if they are back-up then that’s fine but if they are first-team then we may need to accept the new reality of a restricted budget and that’s fair enough. I’m happy we have a club to watch but it doesn’t mean Being bowled over by the quality of signings in the market we may now be in but that is our new reality If Ethan Archer re-signs, then that would be something worth being excited about.

I would have to agree with that.

I have to be honest and say a defence of Craske, Booth and Foulston terrifies me. If they are back-up, no problem but if they are first choice then we are mid table at best. That might be the new reality that we have to get used to and fair enough because we at least have a club but it may mean adjusting our expectations accordingly.

Jon Gibbes - Club Secretary

Can’t be a better option for this role than Jon Gibbes. Fanatical Torquay supporter, a man with great integrity and one whose professional career has all been about detail; it’s unlikely we will be suffering any deducted points for incorrectly registered players under Jon’s watch.

In the quote from BTPIR made previously in this thread, where does it say that there would be an announcement today?
the phrase used was:
"I've been PM'd this morning to tell me...
That the sale of the club will go through today "

No mention (because I haven't been told) of any other that 'it has been agreed' and certainly not that 'it would be announced'

Please don't infer something has been said when it has not. It's not difficult to refer to something clearly stated earlier in the same thread that you are posting from and respond to it.
Reliable sources are they?

4. Playing staff will be contracted full-time.

I've had a couple of individuals suggested to me as well as their lines of business and if those are accurate; I would imagine one of those gentlemen will be very frustrated indeed at the slow pace of due diligence when set again his obvious entrepreneurial and selling skills."
Makes me wonder if he thinks this is Masters, considering Merson has turned into a bit of a fanboy.

culmstockgull wrote: 12 Apr 2024, 16:01 This is not the first time this has happened to us, I remember before the Johnson area the manager whose name escapes me wanted to bring on a sub and the people on the benech were screaming at him the player was eligible, but he went ahead and played him. How long ago did this incident occur, I believe the national league only meet once a month for decision making issues. The club has said we wil make no further comment at this time, hello, step up and give the facts and tell us who messed up and apologise. Stats man we need some new calculations as to points required.
I have a feeling it was in the Paul Buckle era and possibly involved Jake Robinson. I think Bill Phillips was meant to be involved somehow - perhaps he was the one running up the side of the pitch trying to stop the substitution. As it happened, it didn’t prevent us reaching the play-offs but possibly dropped us down a place.

Masters is not involved - its someone not connected to the football club.
That is excellent news if true. We have had enough with unsuitable owners. We don’t need another one.

I think we are to assume there are just rumours and people putting forward possibilities in hope rather than expectation.

Whoever, it is, if the first words they utter mention “new stadium” then I’m done.

knightmaregull wrote: 06 Apr 2024, 12:31 Really informative posts, thanks. Reinforces how everyone has to remember the dire position the club is in and so, any buyer with a genuine plan to save us from oblivion should be welcomed and supported, whether that means part time or otherwise.

Whatever happens it's fundamentally important the old regime are completely cleared off though. If most of us knew Osborne's game from the very start without any inside knowledge then they cannot pretend to have not also been looking for personal gain and are equally complicit in the plan to end the life of a historic football club in my eyes. That must not be forgotten.
Yes, exactly. This revisionist rewriting of what a good chap George Edwards is needs to stop. He has been working for Clarke Osborne for years, doing to Swindon Speedway and others what they intended doing to us.

The post above by the new poster paints a sobering reality of the crap Osborne/Edwards and those complicit in their mission - step forward Mel Hayman - have left us in.

Just what sort of sociopaths are Osborne and Edwards that they see historic sporting venues and just think “housing”, “development”, “sod their history, a chance to profit from something special to so many people”? Odious, vile people.

If you're involved with a regime that everybody hates, you'll be associated with that regime regardless of whether or not you try to be a moderating influence behind the scenes. The online fans forum that took place a few months back also made her look like an Osborne lackey.

i don't know her myself, but while she may be a die-hard TUFC supporter with the very best of intentions, her actions (or inactions) in the past few years do not show her in a good light. She could have resigned from the board, done an interview in the paper and then got behind a bid and people would probably welcome her with open arms - but she kept silent and complicit with the GI chicanery.
Added to this is the insinuation from Osborne that she works as a volunteer; why would you work for free unless you agree with what those running the club say and do?

culmstockgull wrote: 05 Apr 2024, 09:39 Be careful what you wish for, once the administrators are offically appointed then they have total control of the club ,not a penny can be spent without their approval, even down to small things such as buying fuel for the lawnmower, they can terminate contracts of people who may be considered too expensive and those people cannot sue the club but would have to join a long list fo creditors. oh, and they do not work for peanuts, the final bill will be in the many thousands and that will not be on osborne but on whoever acquires the club. I hope that a bid is approved and it has not yet be announced, I have worked for a large company that called in administrators, it took several months for them to finally leave and believe me it wasnt a positive experience
That makes perfect sense what you are saying, although I share knightmaregull’s uneasiness around Osborne getting to decide who the buyers are and wouldn’t be surprised if there was a spiteful final slap from him to sell to either Edwards/Hayman/Masters which is more likely as he would consider these allies and loyal whereas his disdain for TUST and supporters in general has been obvious.

This thread is quite like but it is interesting to read people’s views at the time of the GI takeover, the role Peter Masters played in ushering in GI and stopping TUST.

Despite some now suddenly becoming fawning fanboys for Peter Masters, he played his part in giving the club the ownership that has virtually destroyed this football club

the timeline does. You carry on with your delusional nonsense; it's up to others to choose whether your talking shite or not.
Others have corroborated that the timeline are the FACTS; to date no-one has backed your rubbish up.

Good day!

There you go again, “facts” is a word; it doesn’t require capitalisation or bold font to acquire meaning but those who tend to use it the way you do, or at the end of sentence as though by writing it that way they think it ensures no one can argue, generally are less secure in their factual knowledge than those who don’t have to shout about it.

The facts are, that when Peter Masters left Truro, they didn’t have a ground to play in, but happy for you to list all of those who have corroborated your timeline. You can even write facts in capital letters again after it, if it helps you. Or perhaps instead, crawl back to your own forum where you can abuse and bully people without recourse to censure.

It really doesn’t matter; Truro were left without a stadium when Masters jumped ship and plenty don’t want him at TUFC.

merse btpir wrote: 04 Apr 2024, 07:41 Once again hector ignores the FACTS and the challenge and repeats his nonsense...

Truro were under notice (therefore effectively legally homeless as in the definition of someone who needs to register for social housing) well before Masters paid fifty grand to keep them in business.

They were very much in business when he sold them. That is not 'leaving them in a mess'
The failure of Cornwall County Council to build the S4C is well documented; it is nothing to do with Masters or any of Truro's subsequent owners for that matter.

Your moronic refusal to debate properly renders your point of view and latest post idiotic.
Unlike Merson to get abusive in his postings but why change the habit of lifetime?

So Peter Masters had nothing to do with Truro potentially (not) moving to a new ground?

https://www.trurocityfc.net/news/chairm ... 23036.html

https://www.insidermedia.com/news/south ... g-decision

You also need to learn that just because you still persist in typing the word “fact/s” in bold and capitals, it does not necessarily make your opinion true.

He was virtually promising a new stadium but didn’t deliver. Now where have we heard that before?

The “snags” he hit are the very same concerns people had should Torquay have left Plainmoor; the same playbook playing out.

He left Truro without a home and he was involved in bringing owners to Torquay, who had they had their way, would likely have left us without a home as well.

The last thing Torquay United need is Peter Masters, George Edwards, Mel Hayman et al.
