Very sorry to announce that Ian Twitchen passed away last night. Club legend and very top bloke. I'm sure many will have some great memories to share. RIP

I do not for one minute believe we have the money hanging around to sign him!

Re: Carling Cup Draw This Thursday
FA Cup - Paul Hirons came on as sub to score the winner and I got on match of the day. Great day! I remember Phil Parkes was drafted in to play in goal and his knees were so bad his Right back had to pick the ball out of the for him!Ausgull wrote:West Ham at Home for me ,Would be a great start to the season.I seem to remember we beat them at home a few years back, I'm not sure of the Cup competition though.

Have they called a press conference yet? Wouldn't that be the usual forum for such an announcement?

Re: Bristow's Bench
I recall being on the pop side a few years back when Lew Pope turned up on a TV gantry on the roof the old stand. He was to my amusement greeted by 1200 popsiders all chanting 'Jump Jump, Jump, Jump!'diamondgirl wrote: Pesimist

Re: Bristow's Bench
When I first read the name I was a little confused aswell however agree with CPs thoughts and it is actually a more personal touch than just say 'The Bristow Stand'. Whilst I don't think intentional I also think that in future peoples curiosity behind the origins of 'the bench' may create a nice legacy about Mr Bristow being a true supporter rather than someone who once bunged a load of money our way. Thumbs up from me!

Hello All from an ex Grammar School bey exciled to the desert.
Gutted my lifelong nickname of 'Pickels' was rejected as a username having been a supporter for 28years (I was here first :rules: )
Would be good to hear from any other gulls in the Gulf/UAE (other than Dave Jackson).
Cheers
