I don't think January is the time that players want to be moving clubs, unless they're currently playing for a weak team, or the team in for them are considerably better. It'd do him (and of course us) much more help to stay here till the end of the season. Then he has the summer to decide the move and he has pre-season to settle into the club. Let's just hope that's what Mark thinks..

mark and any player will leave the club if the money is right but people seem to forget that even if the offer is accepted the terms must be right for the player, so thats why i think mark will not go to a L1 club as it would have to really be lucrative for him to as if he stay's and get's more recognition and more games under his belt he will command more the same with o'kane and benyon it's not just about the club they might not want to go as they feel they are devloping well here and I think that they will be doing themselves and their all round game the power of good and look at it this way if we get promoted this year (optimist) then they will have the at least a year playing L1 football which in turn will be invaluble to them and us.

Blatantly Swindon. They've just lost their CB to Reading (Morrison)

An interesting time in terms of finances. Most clubs in the bidding for Benyon, Ellis etc must be hoping we get knocked out of the cup next week as arguably the game could be worth £0.5M if we get through (prize money) and get on telly (250k) and gate receipts.

Getting through surely must strengthen our arm in negotiations and we could just sort it out in the summer unless we get a crazy offer.

Interesting money figures there..
Prize money for winning R4 is another 90k which would take the Cup winnings to just over 200k (assuming we win). Its then another 180k for winning in the 5th round ;-) ;-)
TV money is 144k for a live match in the 4th round (the same as the 3rd round) so probably the same for the 5th round.

HE said this week, TV money for 5th round is £250,000.

I don't beleive everything I read in the papers but I take it they might have done their homework.

So, 90k, plus 250k and some gate receipts 'could' be worth close £0.5M.

Of course, we could get dumped out and we could win and get Hereford away.

Counting possible money from a cup win is a dangerous thing.

Crawley have to be favourites (and happy for them to have this tag). They have spent alone more than the combined total of league 2 this season.

We would have to plan accordingly and not put things in the budget that might not materialise. If a big enough bid comes in we will have to accept it.

Crawley cannot possibly be favourites.

We're a league above them and at home. We're not playing Man Utd!

Ridiculous statement!

Just because they are a league below makes them automatically worse than us does it?

Do you have any idea of the money they have spent, the wages thay are paying, the players they have playing for them?

The reality is on paper they are stronger.

Like I said - happy to have them here than as the underdogs.

I think it will be very, very close tie.

It may be tight, might have been different had we been drawn away, but no mistake we are the favourites for this tie, end of.

I don't think you really have any idea what kind of team they have. If they were in L2 they'd would probably be challenging for automatic promotion. If they were in L1 they'd still have a half decent shout of the play-offs. We may be favourites because of the leagues but on paper and confidence-wise, they have the better team. (although I think we have the better manager). They also have a large squad with several players who have played at higher levels and several players who could very easily make the step up from the conference.

And then there's the fact that we're better off being the underdogs, we tend to play better against the better teams so having them as the favourites really wouldn't be a bad thing for us.
Luke.
