How on Earth does it cost £10,000 to remove a traffic cone from a statue 100 times in a year?
That's £100 EVERY TIME, for some arsehole to wander along and give a cone a poke with a broom. **** that, I'm writing to Glasgow City Council, I'll gladly do it for half that.
I mean... How?
Matt.

MAYBE, they get a one legged, blind, bearded midget to do it. He climbs up there, which takes him aaaaaaages being blind and all, and small, then on the way down, his little beard gets stuck in the statue, and the fire brigade get called out every time to have to cut him loose. He refuses on whatever basis to shave his beard, and they can't find anybody else to fill his place - oh, did I mention, he charges £10 an hour, and the fire brigade have taken to adding a £50 fee for every time they have to cut him loose.
:P

first off, it's an exaggeration. then, what they do is look at their budget for cleaning stuff. Say it's, I dunno, £200 grand a year (which could be 3 or 4 dudes plus money to spend on mops and buckets, or whatever). They can say "wow, 100 days a year we have to go do that! that's 5% of our time!" and boom - ten grand. it's hardly as though they have a chap working for them getting paid £833 a month with a job title of "Traffic Cone Remover".

I recall The Beatles singing about "8 days a week", but this is a whole new level.happytorq wrote:first off, it's an exaggeration. then, what they do is look at their budget for cleaning stuff. I suppose you're right though, it won't be the true figure, it couldn't be... Could it?
