How many times do people have to explain to you in very simple terms (so you might possibly understand them) that the 3 seasons he was at Bury they made the playoffs the 1st season, 9th the 2nd season and he left near the end of the 3rd season with them in the playoff places again. That looks like 3 good seasons to me (and probably anyone capable of rational thought) and I would certainly be happy with that here for the next 3 seasons.
I don't there is any "mileage" in looking at a managers previous record, unless as a basis for offering him employment. The only statistic to review is his record since the start of this season.

Matt.
Very admirable and romantic notion.................runs the risk of producing hopeless, disjointed football, mmmm sounds familiar and what we have, still can only get better I suppose. Lets hope the gamble comes off and quick then or we won't have anything to bet on lol.
I do admire your persistence and loyalty though.......The law of averages indicates that a win is on the horizon lol

The thing I find frustrating, is these endless Ling.v.Knill debates , they are so divisive. Martin Ling has gone, the board do not seem like there about to sack Alan Knill any time soon so, no Lingy isn't coming back, we have a board who seem only desperate to unite the club and that more than anything will keep us up.

Some have short memories, as already pointed out Martin Lings tactics didn't work with out the likes of Eunan O'Kane, ML seemed just as unable to adapt as Alan Knill. Lingy didn't appear to be able to change a game in favour either, if Martin Ling had stayed would we still have those League 2 midfield power houses Danny Stevens and dynamite Ian Morris, jeez how we are missing them right now. ML didn't pick Ryan Jarvis full stop and player who has gone to York and now one the divisions top goal scorers.

To support AK, the club and team, no matter what you think.
