Cuts "off the field"
Anyone know the extent of the cuts at the club"off the field",given that following relegation to the Conference it was said by the Chair/CEO that every area of the operation of the club would be looked at with a review to producing savings that would free up as much money as possible for the playing budget.
Other than the Club Chief's position now going part-time I'm not aware of any other cuts/changes as such-does anyone know if any others that have been made?

I am pretty sure they have managed to get rid of the security guard for the treatment table although I think cooper has probably taken it with him as possession is nine tenths of the law.

Confirmed in today's WMN that Damian Davey has left after further cost-cutting-couldn't agree further changes to his contract/pay.Gareth Law lined up to take-over.

This worries me greatly. Nothing against Gareth Law but it will be a big loss losing Damien (who is much liked and respected) with a replacement who is inexperienced. Does not fill you with confidence!

Yes-very skilled profession and Damian was very good at his job.Gareth will do a decent job I'm sure but Damian's experience will be sorely missed.

If true, this one might have to go into the penny wise, pound foolish camp. As I understand it, DD was worth much more than the sum of his parts to the squad. We might end up paying the money we've saved on some sort of emergency loanee for the sake of not having him around.
Worse yet, not having his skill available to us could just be the difference between 5th place and 6th.
This is all bit End of Days, but I've seen longer odds come home.
Matt.

May be a bad move, but may also be unavoidable. It could be, as Matt says, the difference between fifth and sixth place. But it could also be the difference between solvency and administration.Dutchgull wrote:Very short term thinking. Bad move.

In any event, nobody is completely indispensable; there are plenty of others who could do an excellent job, and we should not pre-judge the work of the new man in the post. Rather, wish him, as well as Damien, all the very best.

DD has been an excellent physio for this club, we've often heard of almost miracle abilities!
But we have no need of nor can afford 2 physios, and Gareth Law has been under guidance of one of the best in the business!

Would like to know who's decision that was. I'm sure a compromise was negotiated but it worries me that this was unattenable under any circumstances.

It's a shame we could not get rid of one of the players we don't want, or one go one light as he was an important member of the club.Gullscorer wrote: May be a bad move, but may also be unavoidable. Is this another one of Bill Phillips clangers? Whichever genius came up with this idea needs another lesson in saving pennies but costing pounds handbook of avoiding ****! But then they learnt so much last season and look where we are because of it.
GET PHILLIPS OUT NOW!!!

Balanced and fact-based as always.

We've had penny wise pound foolish for the last two seasons. Where are we now?
I've been pound wise this season and saved myself a shipload of pennies by not getting a season ticket.
Nothing more to see here.

The club has always been penny-wise, pound-foolish, especially prior to this consortium taking over.
