I think Kee is almost an all round better player than benyon at the moment more versatile, physically better and has a wider skillset, but i do not believe he will score more goals than Elliot. Benyon was in the right place in the right time, and he put away those chances. Billy on the other hand is frustrating, was anyone there at herford at home, where he had an open goal and missed from 4 yards. Next game against Stockport, scores a scorcher. He scores screamers, but misses sitters. Kee will be a better player, but Benyon was a natural goalscorer, if anyone steps up as our No.1 goalscorer id expect it to be robinson or zebroski.

Nah, not having this. I've seen him score plenty of sitters in his time with the reserves and in the pre season friendlies. Since sitters involve nothing more than being in the right place at the right time (that special strikers instinct, the Lineker effect some call it), the quality of the opposition matters not. The one example you cite is a freak. By that logic, almost every player in the world, all the greats alive and dead would fall into this category. Only last week or so, Carlos Tevez missed from about a half inch or there abouts, he'll never do it again and it doesn't make him a player incapable of scoring goals of any kind.

Is my opinion.

Massive fan of Benyon, fox in the box type player and I think he'll do wonders at Swindon and maybe as far as Championship football. But I think Billy has a bit more going for him. His all round game at 19/20 years of age is lightyears better than Elliot's at that age, like Elliot they've both been brought up well by good Championship clubs, but after being bit part, Billy is now playing regularly in LEague 2 whereas Elliot was very much bit part for 2 BSP seasons.

Some of the finishes that Billy has produced in the last couple of games have been seriously high quality and goals that I don't think Benyon would score, in particular the one at Barnet on his weaker foot.

As Billy gets fitter and learns the game over the next 12-18months I think we've got a serious star on our hands here. He's scored bucket loads of goals for Leicester reserves which suggests like Benyon he's got that natural instinct to be in the right place at the right time, I just think he's got a little bit more about him at this time.

One thing is for sure it's important Billy is signed up for the next 2-3 years because when he goes I imagine he'll go for 3 or 4 times more than Elliot did.

All the very best to Elliot, I think he's a cracking player but I think him going, Billy getting more gametime and the feeling of being the number 1 striker is the best thing that could have happened to us right now. He's thriving in the role.

agreed 100%. elliott will do well but it was the right time for him to go. i think most people are excited about the prospect of billy kee and i dont think hes the kind of player who'll let that pressure get to him. the fact that he's scored 2 in 2 is perhaps some kind of testament to this.

I never said he was incapable of scoring any goals? I just said that basically, Kee does all the hard stuff, but when it comes to the easy things, he gets unlucky or makes the wrong decision, prime example last night against Burton, picks the ball up at the half way line, beats their full back for strength and pace, sends their centre back the wrong way, all he has to do is square the ball, but then scuffs it. I think he will develop the 'lineker effect' as you call it, but dont think it will come overnight, next season id say Kee will be scoring 15+ goals easily.

Murph, what we have here is a misunderstanding. My final sentence containing the words "...goals of any kind" refers to Billy not being able to score a particular type of goal, rather than goals full stop.

I was really pleased and excited when we signed Kee - based on his youth record and performance against us last year at Accrington. Normally this means they turn out to do nothing (the last few signings I got excited about were probably Senda and Matt Green), while Tim Sills and Eunan O'Kane turn out to be stars, but I really think Billy is the real deal.

He reminds me a lot of David Graham in his style of play and the type of goals he scores. He's only just turned 20 too, so still has a long way to go in his development. He's got his chance in the team after Benyon moved on and he's taken it with both hands - we haven't missed Benyon at all since he left, and that's no slur on him, just that Kee and Robinson have come into the team and impressed.

As for who's better, I think Kee is a better player now than Benyon was at the same age. Elliot was excellent for us and we shouldn't forget that, but if Kee carries on as he is then I agree that he'll go on to be the better player too. I'd love to see us offer him a year or two years extension now, when we have a much better chance of tying him down to a longer deal than waiting for him to be an established player with a big reputation in 12 months time.
