Fairhurst Gone
It is hardly giving up on the only profession he has known due to it. He has (or is likely to) change employer to be nearer his family. Many people would do the same.
And you soldiering on in the face of abysmal tragedy does not make you more of a man and him less of a man. It just makes you different. There is no need to be so derogatory about it.

Of course it does, it's what proper men do, they don't just chuck in the towel the minute something terrible happens.
Matt.
Matt.

Never mind the advice of healthcare professionals, psychiatrists, men's health charities, Matt thinks he knows more than them. Manly. Grr.
What a dinosaur.

Watch him turn up elsewhere before the end of the season.
He's been looked after and nursed back to fitness then ditched us. Poor.
I guess he got over the "personal tragedy" quite quickly.

I guess if you want to be near to your family when you've had a bereavement, it's easier to work 35 miles away than it is 260 miles away.....just saying.

Take it his mind still isn't on football then? - mind you I don't suppose any of us saw this coming. Hasn't been fit enough to play at all this season for us, whats the betting he will be fine to play in Halifaxs next game.

If you suffer bereavement, you take time off work to be with your family, you don't QUIT your job.
It all got sorted very quickly though didn't it?.............just saying.
If you want to offload a player who's earning too much, why not just say?.........just saying
Why wait until we've nursed him back to health?.........just saying
If his partner wasn't living down here, he was never really commited to the club was he?........just saying
Just another example of how Torquay United operate................just saying.

More like we have a let go, a player full of shit. We only want players to play for us. We paid his wages whilst injured and then he quits/ leaves due to personal bereavement and signs for Halifax a week later. Nice bloke, w..k..Bloggy wrote:I still don't like it. Sentiments aside, it still seems like we've rolled over and had our tummy tickled (again).

Any bereavement is obviously terribly sad and difficult for anyone. A bigger person, a bigger man, would have felt some loyalty to the people who have paid his wages since August and who have received feck all back from him in return.
Yes take some compassionate time off to be with your family, but show some bloody loyalty.
As mentioned earlier he could take a leaf from Scott Rendell's book.
A tweet saying "thanks" doesn't cut it for me.
