There advertising it on there website aswell the £5 deal and at the bottom of the article it says that the offer is not avalible for away fans...Bit of a disgrace to be honest considering we wont be bringing many at all...
Meh, I think the loss of Sodje would be a much bigger blow to them. After all he is quite a talisman even in his advancing years. Plus this Eckersley hasn't played much first team football in a while, nor would he have had much chance to train with them.
Not saying that these events lead to a sure-fire Gulls win, but in tough games like this you have to maximise every positive you can. The Bury backline will be a touch unsettled, I just hope bucks plays a side that will make the most of it and test them early on rather than sit back.

Pffftt!!! Were I going i would do my jacket up to hide my shirt (until I was in the ground) and use the coupon out of the local rag...Mind you their webby says "todays paper" so presumably it wont be in tomorrows edition to stop people doing just that?AlexGulls wrote:There advertising it on there website aswell the £5 deal and at the bottom of the article it says that the offer is not avalible for away fans...Bit of a disgrace to be honest considering we wont be bringing many at all...

id have thought that was against league rules, i'm sure away fans have to be charged the same as home fans these days??
maybe someone could be sent up early to buy 150 copies of local paper!! a letter to the league, the local paper and bury fc venting our collective spleen needs to be written

It's a pretty poor show from Bury to be honest. I Certainly won't be buying anything else at the club.
I have often enquired before away games what offers are on, just last year we got a family taicket to get in a Morecambe, which worked out about a tenner cheaper than us all paying individually , only problem is I thought that I would have to marry my mate Pete first! but Morecambe were only too happy to "bend the rules" for our party of 4.
Also last year at Grimsby Mini Mid Devon got in for about £5 , but he had to book his ticket at the club office beforehand. Now that was a picture, loads of young Grimsby fans stood in a line with their black and white shirts on and Mini Mid Devon in his bright yellow shirt right in the middle of them! Again Grimsby were only too happy to allow away fans to take up the offer.
This pre-calculated move by Bury is a disgrace and good, against the wrong team, lead to crowd trouble

Couldn't someone phone up a local corner shop and ask them not to get rid of the papers as you would like to buy a few? If I was a bury fan, its a quick pound or two selling the coupons.

Ok guys,
I had a look on the FL website and in particular, their regulations here >>> http://www.football-league.co.uk/regula ... 33_2125729
Sadly, I have to report that, while unjust, what Bury are doing is perfectly legal. Tickets for this match are subject to the provisions of a "local promotion". Below is a copied and pasted section of the FL regulations.
32.2.11 Discounts or special promotions (in each case for one match only) made available to supporters of the Home Club must also be made available on a similar basis to visiting supporters provided that each Club shall be permitted to designate four (4) Matches per Season as 'local promotion' Matches where this rergulation shall be deemed not to apply.
Since the woman on the phone did specifically say to me that today was one of these 'local promotion' affairs, it seems they are perfectly within their rights to do this, as deeply unfair as it may be. So, if this is a Category A match, we could be paying 400% of the price applicable to home supporters for the same accomodation at the same match. We'd best not **** ing lose then!
Matt.

Round here this would be a local game.
Tight and mean spirited if you ask me...
Enjoy the game - looking forward to some razor sharp blogging during my afternoon at work
Hope we play really well and come away with all 3 points

anyway on to more important things, tonights result! on the face of it i'd be happy with a draw there, but in the light of buckles comment along the lines that i'm not afraid to change it about, i fear that he wont see the positives from saturdays all out attack and rout of shrewsbury and will opt for a contain and break stategy hoping to nick a 0-1 win, however we all know how successful we are at defending a lead, so if he does make this foolish decision i think we'll lose against the quality of lowe and ajose up front. plus they dicked us 1-3 at plainmoor and are alledgedly the best team to visit for many a season??
most betting tip sites are going with bury, bookies are making them clear favourites at around evens, the draw 12/5 and us a massive and tempting 11/4!
once i see the team i'll be placing my bets, but if unchanged i'll be looking at a front foot up and et em performance and will be backing a draw and an away win, with jake definately to score. +1 handicap looks a safe bet at eight/11 (sorry about this but smiley came up ever time i out number 8 in!!)
jake to score and 0-1 is 40/1!! jake to score first and us to win is 13/1, but like i say i'll be back once the team is announced!

It was 4-3 to Bury at Plainmoor. I wasn't there but I understand that it was a cracker of a game where we self-destructed a bit. You must be thinking of the Macclesfield game where we lost 3-1 and were poor.bixieupnorth wrote:anyway on to more important things, tonights result! on the face of it i'd be happy with a draw there, and in the light of buckles comment along the lines that i'm not afraid to change it about, i fear that he wont see the positives from saturdays all out attack and rout of shrewsbury and will opt for a contain and break stategy hoping to nick a 0-1 win, however we all know how successful we are at defending a lead, so if he does make this foolish decision i think we'll lose against the quality of lowe and ajose up front. plus they dicked us 1-3 at plainmoor and are alledgedly the best team to visit for many a season??

Interesting selection dilemmas for Buckle tonight. To play such a vibrant attacking line up as we did at the weekend would be very gung-ho, but with Bury having regulars missing from the backline perhaps this would be a good opportunity to go at them and try and catch them cold early on. I seem to recall one of the Bury fans who has posted on here has said they actually do better when teams come to park the bus, so maybe an attacking mentality would be the way to go.
We also no longer have the personnel to go too defensive. Gone are the days where we could set up with say Carlisle on one wing and go for a more solid look. All we could possibly do tonight is replace Tomlin and Murray with O'Kane and Stevens, which for me isn't exactly shoring things up. You could possibly revert to the 4-5-1, bring Oastler in for Pringle, O'Kane in for murray and play in the hole, have Tomlin and Robinson on the wings with Zebs up top. And then have the possibility of bringing Kee or Murray on if we need to change shape.

thanks for correcting me jeff, my memories not what it used to be!! cant believe macc did that, but then i remember how bad it was for a few weeks after out blistering start!!
my worry is that buckle will not see what we see and go to defend tonight

Yep, Bury were excellent that day. Comfortable at the back, and good up top. However, is Ajose playing? He was really decent down here, but I think he's been struggling with injuries a bit..?
I think one of the Bury fans said he's on the way back from injury. Possibly recovered now but won't have played any reserve games before today so might make the bench at best. However I think Ryan Lowe will give our defenders more than enough practice tonight!NickGull wrote:Yep, Bury were excellent that day. Comfortable at the back, and good up top.
