The club simply could not reduce prices to £10,not even for a 3-4 home game run,and certainly not on a permanent basis,taking season ticket holders into account the club would have to have a guarantee of a crowd no less than 5000 to make it pay,they did reduce prices to a tenner for the home f.a cup tie with Wallsall and still only 2000 turned up,and thats the problem ,all footy fans do "fickle" from time to time,us tufc fans seem to be olympic gold medal standard when it comes to "fickle" if the team is not winning they just do not come out,and as seen at the recent midweek match with Cheltenham an extra 600 tufc fans turned up,from previous midweek games,why? becuase the team all of a sudden are just off the automatic promotion places.

rather than just look at reducing prices which is a guarantee of nothing in terms of gate numbers,they must look at offering a family ticket ,say two adults two kids for £35 ,that should please yellowmonkey atleast ,and a sort of montly season ticket ,where fans can enjoy reduced prices for paying up front for 4-6 matchs at a time,or look at how feasible it would be to allow fans to pay for there season ticket by monthly direct debit.

I do belive that Barnet charge up to £20,and Oxford up tp £22 ,yet some of our fans think £16 is a rip off,we are not the cheapest however not the most expensive either,think each person has to accept that around £16 is the going rate for league 2 football now,we could allways go and watch premier league football and have half the fun we do for £40-50 a ticket.

I was shocked to pay £19 at Crewe and Northampton (the latter having one of the poorer pies I've sampled as well). Makes £15 at Bury seem a bargain - cheapest transport costs and best game too! While I agree it would be nice to get more fans in cheering on the team I can't see it being financially feasible for the club, but it's reassuring to know there are clubs out there charging more to watch a load of cobblers.

Im a student who can get to roughly 10 home games and only a handful of away games but budgeting for a matchday is well worth it, TUFC is my saturday. With a student ticket at £15 and a 50-50 when feeling lucky. Some chips and a drink. The day comes to £20 this is a darn sight cheaper than hitting the clubs and pubs of an evening. Especially in city centres. Therefore i just swap one for the other. I get more out of a saturday afternoon than a hangover on a sunday.

With the team doing well, making it £10 for adults, £5 for kids or somethign like that, I think a) you could bargain for an extra 1000 MINIMUM hopefully pushing 4000 as a final attendance, especially if that offer is extended to away supports as well. Why shouldn't it be? A full away end = a better atmosphere and a better match day expereince to use a buzz word and most importantly more money in the bank. That's what it comes down to, not kids kicking a ball at half time, not a bloke dressed as a fat sea gull, not goal music *shudders*, it's more people.

How can you have that match atmosphere and banter if you have 15 Burton fans there?

What you also have to consider is, more people = more refreshements bought, more programmes sold, more shirts sold, more scarves/hats etc sold. You get all these extras as well. I don't think the club would be THAT much out of pocket to do this offer from now on. Maybe with an exception of the last match v Chesterfield which all things considered I think should be a decent gate anyway.

The main isue is season ticket holders who (rightly) may well be grumpy at other fans getting in for cheaper than maybe they have paid. My arguement for this has always come down to, I believe fans generally but in particualr season ticket holders will always do whats right and best for the club. They'll put the money in regardless, they'll follow the team regardless and I think the majority would rather see Plainmoor 'rocking' with 4000 people in it, than be stubborn and play in a dead ground with 1500-2000 in it which MAY effect the side.

What it also might do as well is get the new regular fans these deals entice in, to be come season ticket holders or more regular fans the next year(s). Which ultimately is what we and every club needs. More regular supporters. There is nothing wrong with trying to entice people in, and cheap tickets, kid for a quid with a paying adult, Buy 2 games get 1 game free type offers are an excellent and fairly easy way of doing this. Especially as the team are doing well anyway.

Whilst i think any measure brought in now to try and raise gates up to the end of the season,and hopefully win new supporters is not a bad idea,that said,the reason why the club can not or should not is like i said before Walsall home in the F.A cup,these are the prices the club charged that day.

The gate was 2,334 if i remember rightly Walsall brought nearly 300 of that,if the gate had been 4000+ that day,iam sure the club woul;d be seriously looking at some reduced prices,however they done it before and got a (2,334 gate)kick in the teeth for there trouble's.

You seem to be forgetting that the last few home games usually have an increase in attendance anyway (possibly due to there usually being something to play for, or the nicer weather maybe). To drop the admission price for the Chesterfield match (probably going to be around 4500 to 5000 anyway) would cost in income. Quick and dirty figures on a 5000 crowd with a 70/30 adult/kids split, assuming 1500 ST holders, would result in an extra 1000 needed to get the same income using your suggested figures. Assuming we are going to get 5000 anyway, isnt our capacity under 6000 at the moment therefore meaning a loss of income even if its sold out?

Hmmm, I wonder how many people, for whatever reason (hangover, sloth, lie in etc) intend to go to a Saturday game, but, come the day, can't be arsed? I mean people with avoidable problems, such as those mentioned, not guys with genuine and serious reasons for missing matches. It does make me wonder whether the trade off between offering an early bird match day ticket would be worth it. Purchased before, say, 1700 on the prior Thursday, an early bird ticket is, say, £1 or £1.50 or even £2 cheaper. This minimises the losses to the club in terms of pure entry price, but it does then commit those who have purchased advance tickets to turning up, rather than deciding they can't be arsed. Now, granted, it might not get more than, say, an extra 100 people through the gate, but it is at least something and might even represent a net gain in revenue for the club.

Hardly an original idea, but it might work and is probably worth a punt.

As for the Warsaw (sorry, Walsall) game, I hadn't heard a thing about the price decrease. As lovely as £12 a ticket is too, it doesn't really seem like much of a decrease. The club would be better off sticking it at £8 (half price) for a match, promote the hell out of it, get a bunch of fans handing out leaflets and putting up banners and posters round town and then see how that goes. Not some half arsed website advert and that's it.

I would stick to the usual promotions for this season but next season should be the one to go for, target of 3k+ average for the year. It's definitely achievable.

Strangely enough Matt, that seems to be what a lot of L2 teams do (Oxford charge something like 2.50 more if you just turn up and pay on the day).

I wonder if the point is being totaly missed,the club have done this reduce prices and offer's nothing changed,Barnet home was kids for a quid,gate..2139.

And 12 matchs for the price of 10 has been in force since the Barnet game,gate's are only going up now becasue we are in the run in,and the team has a shout of promotion.

Or maybe it because the club does not market these offer's well enough,but they have tried and failed to increase gates with these reduced prices and special offer deal's,why should they carry on when locals keep turning there nose up,at these offer's

Supposed to be playing so sadly not. I will be at the Wycombe game and potentially the Chesterfield one as well. I want to go to the Burton away game and that will probably be my lot, unless we get to the playoffs.

This gets dragged out every season. "Why don't reduce prices to this much, etc etc". The answer is always the same - the club can't afford to. It might be a bit shortsighted; cheaper prices could maybe bring more kids who might then become lifelong fans, for example, but those are intangibles. The club needs to make sure that the bills get paid, and having made a loss in recent years, it's more important at this time to get money in the tills.

Totally agree. Marketing and promoting the club is as important as 'what the prices should be'. Forgot all your fancy ticketing price schemes, marketing and promoting the club is more important.
