Its Bitter, John Smiths Bitter brewed in Tadcaster.
Not girlie drinks like lager or alcopops its Bitter. Served in a hand grenade glass with a half inch (12.7mm to you young uns) creamy head on it.

Matt - I thank you! I have been working at the pub loads, so haven't got much free time now. Also now have 3 dogs, lil Marty still at home and needing looking after still (pfft....) - so busy as buggery. I have got a lovely fast new car though, so am keeping my fingers crossed that we have extra games at the end of the season and they don't coincide with my shifts. Feels like an eternity since I was at Plainmoor <reaches for Kleenex smilie>

Oh bless you Matt, I'm not a teacher, a mere teaching assistant. So running Westy Mansion is simply not possible on that meagre wage, I need to work f'kknows how many hours down the pub...trouble is, all my shifts seem to be on match days now. Hey ho, mustn't grumble.
My new car is a VW Passat estate, 1.9 TDi something, in black with dollops of seagull poo. Very nippy indeed. The Freelander had a new head gasket and bits and bobs, cost a fortune (£1200) to repair and 2 days after getting it back, it started slipping out of gear, so I decided to get rid while I could. They upped the trade in value when I said I wanted my TUFC sticker out of it first.
Anyway, can't stay chatting as guess what? Whilst you lot are sunning yourselves at Barnet, I'm off to pull. Pints.

Anyway, it's The George at West Bay, right opposite the harbour. A Gulls fan came in the other day, he used to write about the team years ago apparently. I work with a Villa fan and a Liverpool fan, keep telling them that when we all get a free saturday i'll bring themto Plainmoor to see proper football

St. George's Day is always April 23rd. Like all saints days, it is set by the church, and doesn't move. And it is not a public holiday.

May 2nd is the May Day holiday; should be May 1st but in the UK, it is always the first Monday in May.

What always confuses me, is that Easter moves about. If, as alleged by those who would rather believe in a fairy story than in things which science can prove, Jesus Christ was killed and re-risen, then the basis for the dates are in factual occurrence. If these events happened, they happened on a specific date. I don't move my birthday around from year to year, my birthday is November 18th because that is the day I was born, simple monkey.

The church just use Easter as a time for celebrating the death and subsequent resurrection (if, of course you believe this). There is no apparent reason for using it - and in actual fact Christians used to celebrate the death and resurrection around the same time as the Jewish festival of Passover (usually after as it is believed that he died after this festival).

Since the adaptation of different calendars for both the Eastern Orthodox churches and Western Orthodox churches, who use the Julian and Gregorian calendars respectively, the festivals have rarely fallen on the same dates. In fact the easter as we know it is based on the lunar Hebrew calendar, and follows the Sunday immediately following the Paschal (meaning passover) full moon. Therefore, the date moves every year.

Whilst Christmas is a fixed date, it was hijacked by the church as the date to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but in actual fact was a pagan festival date (the winter solstice). Most people believe that Jesus was born in the month of September - they use the fact that the shepherds were out at night tending to their lambs as evidence of this. In those days shepherds would tend to the lambs all day and night in order to ensure they survived their first few days in the world, but only during "lambing season" would this be done, which is September in that part of the world.....

Anyway, this only really matters if you believe in this sort of stuff. As you asked Matt, I decided to answer!!
