The most complete performance I've seen so far, we were through out the second half what a solid defensive performance, they had some very good players and their approach play was good, but our back line held sold.

John Sinclair TV was at the game today, got a chance to speak with him after the game, had a lot of very good things to say about our club and fans.

I was at this game this afternoon. I was impressed with the midfield and defence. They only made one mistake in the first half leading to a Farnborough shot being blocked. The two quick goals were maybe things to come. But no the Farnborough goalkeeper did not make one save during the whole game although Musa clean through should have troubled him. The Torquay goalkeeper only made two saves the whole game late on but they were vital.

If both sides had a finisher there would have been a lot of goals.

Torquay fans were complaining about the referee but he had a good game and let the game flow. He did book players and give some a talking too, but they were justified.

Immense defensive display. As a spectacle it was a shame more goals didn't follow but it was a professional performance to protect that lead and we should really have at least added a third.

Tremendous work rate and defending today. Would have liked to have tested their theatrical goalkeeper a bit more , was he complaining that Young handled ? A clean sheet again and a solid defence is crucial to winning promotion.
I do wish we could keep possession a bit better and relieve the pressure we always seem to have to endure
but not complaining. Paul Wotton saying he doesn't give two hoots about being top now, fair enough but it's better than being 10 points behind the leaders

Apparently their manager said the goalkeeper said he had two hands on the ball and the referee admitted at half time that it should have been disallowed .
Be interesting to see it again. We're due a few decisions though !

Just listened to their managers reaction, very open and honest

Having been at the game it didnt look like their keeper had hands on the ball, he looked stuck on his heels and surprised Young got there watching live - will be interesting to see the replay

How the official can confirm that at HT is baffling but the ref was all over the place wanting to be the centre of attention

Not sure you and I were at the same game, referee ,if you can call him that had a marginal grasp of the laws and had little or no contrrol over the game other than to issue the standard handful of yellow cards, some of his decisions were bizarre in the extreme,
Farnborough keeper possibly did not need to make any saves, he was too busy picking the ball out of the net, did not even bother to come out to warm up pre match then spent most of the game behaving like a hormonal teenager, Farnborough are a reasonable side but were more intent on disruption than playing football, having said that after the goals they controlled the first half as we sat off them and gave them the midfield. Moussa seemed to be a disconsolate figure out on the left and did little to influence the game, I heard wotton scream at him that he had two minutes to get in the game or he was coming off.
Dyer and thomas were the stand outs for me and hamon kept us in the game more than once.

Farnborough's goalkeeper only had himself to blame, not only did he not do a pre match warm up, but the sun was shinning quite brightly into his face for the first 20 minutes or so, even a bang average park keeper would have put a cap on, you never know, he may well have been bale to see what he was doing.

Couldn't see much wrong with that goal, keeper should work on his weak, hesitant goalkeeping, , looked like Young got there first with some great anticipation, certainly not a clear cut blatant knocking the ball out of his hands as he claimed.

Overall what a positive performance, our promotion push will seemingly depend on the defence by the looks of things. They are resolute and have the ability it seems to withstand numerous crosses/passes into the box, winning almost all of them. It is a shame we still have to resort to hoofball though which immediately puts us back under pressure, Cooke doesn’t have Jarvis ability to hold/win the ball or flick it on and so the ball comes straight back at us. We do also look vulnerable to teams that run at us, but all in all our defence looks like it can cope with most that this division will offer.

Mussa can be frustrating, normally when he tries to take players on, however he’s a player that can make something happen. The poster may have missed that it was his vision and ability to make the pass to set WJD away for his goal. Young is another that can be frustrating, he obviously has ability but you’re never quite sure what will happen when he has the ball. Good awareness to be in the right place for his goal, and it looked to us that the keeper was too weak and expected the whistle to go, which 9 times out of 10 it would have. I do feel at the moment any free kicks outside the box need to be taken by someone else as you feel at the moment his will go either wide or high or both.

I thought we made Farnborough look more like a team fourth from bottom than top, they offered very little going forward which I will put down on our shape/defending. Wotton deserves huge praise for assembling a good side in such a short space of time, one that is improving month on month. It also helps with our consistency that we don’t have a team of sicknotes constantly injured, let’s not sign any. Glad the few people questioning Wotton already have also gone quiet, some people have no patience.

Another fantastic attendance, way above what I expected us to get this season, and the pitch holding up well into December is another bonus. All in all everything is looking promising.
