Seemingly well on top in first half, going in 1 nil up at h/t.
Just need 2 more in second half without conceding

Attendance - 3,788 (28 Welling United).
Only six off the crowd, and one off the away following! Really happy to see you guys win again after all you’ve been through - it’s the least you deserve. We’re in our sixth straight season in the National North 😞, but won convincingly at Buxton today so hopefully we’re going to turn a corner. We both should be competing much further up the pyramid.

Strange game that one, entertaining though.

We were totally on top in the first half against a passive Welling side and could have been 5-0 up. Second half the first 15 minutes were the exact opposite, Welling attacked with the slick passing we can’t cope with and we couldn’t string a pass together, and they deserved to draw level. However once they did, that seemed to be enough for them and we upped our game enough to make the last few minutes, at least comfortable.

Subs all did ok which is great for the many extra Tuesday games the squad will soon face, although I do feel Carson has dropped a level since signing an extended contract.

Fantastic crowd, way above what I thought would be there, and shows we have a great fan base for whatever division we can end up in.

Another great crossbar challenge, Robin Stubbs on the pitch and a £4000 50/50 draw, what more do you need?

We made hard work of that , should have been a bit better, sharper , unselfish (Young) in front of goal in the first half though I didn't think we created a lot or looked dangerous enough. Seemed to sit back second half as Welling grew into it , they didn't create many chances but had more possession and pressure than I would have liked. We are top and they are struggling
but it didn't really look like that.
I'm just waiting for a comfortable, convincing home win but we can't seem to do it against even the poorer sides. Still , we keep churning out the wins at home which is so important as we have some tough away games to come most of which are on 3G - not our best surface.
I thought Threlkeld had his best game for us today, he was excellent

When you win three one its hard to be negative, first five minutes we were up for it, then and not for the first time we let welling back in, so many games we should have put the game to bed within the first 45 but we were lacking any forward incisive pass, plenty of endeavour but nothing productive. Best player first half by a country mile was Moxey, its a shame he came out for the second half because it was his lack of pace that was instrumental in their goal,Lovely to see at half time robin stubbs on the pitch celebrating sixty years from when we drew against the mighty spurs and my first game at plainmoor, Not sure what the half time team talk was but we never came out for the start of the second half and it was no surprise that welling got back into the game. However from about minute 70 it was just us and we were totally comfortable with the win.

We owed them that , as the result away was crazy how we lost that as they were awful. Was s dark day after somehow losing that, so very proud of the club to beat them & be top of the league in the reverse fixture

Great start but didnt capitalise on all the play we had in the first half, we should have been out of sight

Resilient from us in the 2nd half to get back on top, it was a poor start to the 2nd half

Not sure if anyone clocked Moxey when he got subbed off, he appeared quite distraught - might be the last time he plays?

We urgently need another striker, struggle to see what the plan B is, we made like for like subs. With a few Tuesday games upcoming we need some additional bodies

Yes first half they had not got off the coach and we should have been at least 2 up or even put the game to bed.
Fair play to Welling they came out and for 20 minutes played as if they had been given a real ear bashing by the manager.
Perhaps rather than settling for a point and time wasting they could have pushed on.
We then took control, the substitutions did make a difference, and once they had to come at us further goal(s) were a possibility.
Deano played well in the first half but they did attach him with pace in the second half, was he injured? He was slow in closing down when they scored.

We are getting better and believe we can win these games, I just wish we would, at times, not make it so difficult for ourselves!

I am sure the manager and Directors are aware we need strengthening and this willl happen.

He came off directly below us in bristows, I got the impression as a total pro he was annoyed becuase he gave away the goal, either way he is better than carson at left back.

I would imagine sixty years ago was the last time we actually had a good FA Cup run, so very apt that Robin Stubbs was on the pitch.

We did well in 08/09 and 10/11 each time narrowly missing out on a 5th round money spinner.
