[OS] Join Us For Non-League Day At Plainmoor!

Post by TorquayFans.com »

With this Saturday’s crucial home clash with Bath City coinciding with Non-League Day 2025, we’re encouraging everyone to join us for an exciting afternoon of LIVE football at Plainmoor With last Saturday’s excellent 1-0 win at Dorking blowing the National League South promotion race wide open once more, another three points against the Romans this weekend will see hopes raised further that The Gulls can return to the top flight of non-League football for the first time since 2023. Darren Way’s visitors will certainly be no pushovers though, and with a sprinkling of former United favourites in their ranks, it promises to be another gripping chapter in the 2024/25 run-in story.   Book Your Tickets Now! Image Tickets are available for purchase in all home areas of the stadium, whilst Bath City fans will be situated in Bristow’s Bench Block A (seated). As always, we’re encouraging supporters to book early in order to avoid queues at the stadium and secure the seats you desire, with our phonelines and Main Club Reception open from 9.30am – 4.30pm on weekdays throughout the season (excluding Bank Holidays). REMEMBER – TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ONLINE 24/7 FROM OUR TICKETING WEBSITE HERE! Any fans who require a space in our Wheelchair section are asked to contact the Club during our normal opening hours, or alternatively by paying a visit to our Matchday Ticket Office, which will be open from 12pm onwards on Saturday. Supporters wishing to purchase tickets on the day of the game will also be able to do so here, whilst supporters on the Popside will also be able to take advantage of Pay On The Gate via the designated turnstiles. Please note that our ‘Pay On The Gate’ turnstiles will only accept card payments. Ticket prices for Saturday’s fixture are as follows: Individual Match Ticket Prices 2024/25 Stand Adult Concessions Under-18 Under-8 Bristow’s Bench £20 £18 £11 £8 Family Stand £19 £17 £11 £8 Popside £18 £16 £11 £8 Please Note:

  • There will be no charge for young children aged under 3 occupying the same seat as an adult
Devon Day Revisited Last season’s Devon Day was a very different affair, as TUFC faced a battle on – and primarily off the pitch – for its very existence. Everyone at Plainmoor remains hugely thankful to the support the Club received from our two local EFL neighbours Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City, and with both Devon sides without a home game this weekend, we’re extending the warmest of welcomes to any Pilgrims and Grecians that would like to get their LIVE football fix right here at Torquay United! Image As well as being within a short travelling distance from Plymouth and Exeter, there will be a whole host of familiar faces on show for both sets of fans to become reacquainted with! From an Argyle perspective, United are of course led by PAFC legend Paul Wotton, who during the course of two playing spells totalling 17 years became the most successful captain in the Club’s history, winning two EFL titles within three seasons. On the playing side, defender Finley Craske made nine appearances for the Pilgrims after coming through the ranks at Home Park, whilst the highlight of Gulls skipper Oscar Threlkeld’s century of games in a green shirt was the 2016/17 League Two promotion success. In addition to that, current Argyle loanee Will Jenkins Davies is enjoying a fine second loan spell at Plainmoor, having already made twelve senior outings for his parent club. Image In the red corner, there’s a whole host of cross-county connections too. Veteran defender Dean Moxey remains a hugely popular figure at St James Park, and having made over 300 appearances for his hometown club, it’s not hard to see why. Dean’s not the only Grecian plying his trade on the English riviera though, with no less than four players in last Saturday’s squad having made first-team appearances in the red & white stripes of City earlier in their career. Goalkeeper James Hamon, match-winning defender Jordan Dyer and strike duo Matt Jay and Ozzy Zanzala will all be instantly recognisable to Exeter fans, whilst Gulls midfield schemer Dan Hayfield is also a member of City off-field staff too!   What Is Non-League Day? Image Non-League Day was set up by James Doe in 2010 as a social media experiment, after being inspired by a pre-season trip to Devon to watch Queens Park Rangers play at Tavistock. It has now grown to become an annual part of the football calendar, backed by Premier League and Football League clubs, MPs, celebrities, media organisations, charities and most importantly the non-league clubs themselves and the fans who turn up on the day. Always scheduled to coincide with an international break, Non-League Day provides a platform for clubs to promote the importance of affordable volunteer-led community football while giving fans across the country the chance to show support for their local non-league side. Many non-league clubs are almost exclusively or partially volunteer run, with money taken at the turnstiles often funding thriving youth set-ups, projects and facilities which are of benefit to the whole community. The level of skill on offer at non-League grounds might not be the same as that at the Etihad Stadium or Stamford Bridge, for example, but there are other sides to the experience, from which the smaller club will always win hands down. The vast majority of games still kick off at 3pm, ticket prices are realistic, and you will always be guaranteed a warm welcome by people who run their clubs for a love of the game. Whether you’re a Premier League or Championship fan without a game, a League One or League Two supporter who can’t make an away trip, or just someone who is curious about what their local club has to offer, there is sure to be something to interest everyone. The post Join Us For Non-League Day At Plainmoor! first appeared on Torquay United.
