It shows how far the mighty have fallen, if some of our fans are quoting Crawley f***ing town as our rivals :'(

I think they may struggle to adapt to actually playing in front of crowds over 300.

I cant stand Crawley myself, and will laugh my f***ing b****cks off when in 5 years time it has all crumbled and that sh*t mickey mouse club are plying their trade in some southern counties village league, and Evans is banged up.
I wouldn't worry too much about Crawley if I were you, they are miles better than Rovers, & have a manager who, although he is an absolute Ars#hole is light years better than Buckle. Runners up or third is the best you will get. In anycase if Buckle gets off to a good start he will be offered a job at a bigger club & take Stanley & Zeb with him, & that will be your two best players gone.

I made this very point before the FA Cup match.

They have one player to watch, that's Tubbs. He got the vast majority of their goals last year and, should something happen to him, or it was a freak season or whatever, then they could well find themselves going back down.
The reason they are bookies favorite is simple, bookies, like almost everyone else in the country, really struggle when it comes to any football below the top 4 in the Premier League.
If it's not Man Utd, they don't really know much, if anything.

Matt.
I think the reason they are favourites is because the team they had last season was probably good enough to have won this division - and they're strengthened it. And if things don't go well early on, they'll bring in some loans and sign a whole load more players in January. Money doesn't guarantee success, but having lots of it and spending it well, gives you every chance. I'm no fan of Evans, but he's used the riches at his disposal quite well.

No way, not a hope in hell. They were nothing like as good any side from the top half of L2. They were much worse than the Shrewsbury side we beat 5-0.

That's your opinion, but i don't know what you base it on. We were comfortably second best when we played them, having made Shrewsbury look average on every occasion we met them.

They were better than the worst TUFC performance I have ever seen, including anything from the relegation year. Had we played even a tenth as well as we did on an average day, we'd have won comfortably.

It might have been the 'worst you've ever seen', but that should be quantified as i don't think you've not been watching for long have you? Were you not at Old Trafford? And worse than the relegation season? I think your memory is playing tricks on you. We didn't play well for sure, but perhaps they didn't let us? They looked a strong, organised team and i think they'll be even better this season. Time will tell.

I would never be stupid enough to predict we will beat Crawley or that we have signed better players than them. That just sets you up for disappointment. Its all about what happens on the day and whether your players perform on the day. I am not saying I am not happy with the players we have signed becauseI actually believe that Buckle has done an excellent job and in the three friendlies I have watched albeit the standard of the opposition I think that he will do a good job for us. Usually when a Manager brings in a lot of players you get a few duds but I would say that there are no duds in the 14 that Buckle has brought in.In fact they really excite me which i havent felt for a few years under trollope or penney.

LMAO this hilarious. Torquay trying to invent a rivalry with little old Crawley. How sweet. Who are Torquay again??

Some corkers on this thread to be fair, you think you brought better players than us? LOL. We've simply picked up a selection of the best strikers in League 1 and League 2 for huge fees. I can't even think of one player you've signed.

Put simply our team is better than the one that spunked all over you last year in the FA Cup, you know the one where me missed two penalties and still comfortably beat you. It's okay, not many teams could really compete with us last year we were something special. :)

Enjoy being middle table fodder next year under Martin Ling (again LOL, you don't know how much you guys sound like Cambridge fans last pre - season,) looking enviously across as Crawley Town storm to a second succesive promotion.

Read the thread you clown. The question was whether you'd signed better players than Rovers not us.

Like the rest of football, we will try not to laugh too loudly when your bubble bursts and you fall back down the filthy hole you've crawled out of. I suppose you can go back to supporting whoever you were supporting before when that happens, no harm done.

Didn't think it would be long before this thread drew out a tosser, try reading back through the thread you dumb tw@t and tell me were a single Torquay fan said we had signed better players than Crawley,if you had a brain cell you would see the disscusion was about whether Bristol Rovers had signed better players than Crawley.

Torquay 82 years football league thats who we are,Crawley 0 minutes football league who the fork are you,now bore off.

Hi crawleytown do you mind if i call you that?

1.You'll notice the poster who said they've bought better players is actually a Bristol Rovers fan.

2. Who are Torquay? they are a club with about 80 odd years of football league history and tradition. Something your crooked club simply can never buy. If Crawley Town are still in existence in the current guise in 8 years nevermind 80 I will be stunned.

Seriously i really hope you enjoy your little moment in the sun, we've seen it with other nomark clubs who nobody supports they have a couple of seasons lapping it up before ending up on their arses when the owners realise they can't get any higher than League 1 and because there is no history or tradition of football in the town then crowds go back to what they were 500odd once the money dries up and so do the wins.

Why do you care so much about Bristol Rovers?

Weird.

I will enjoy being part of the 80 odd Crawley fans who watch us turn you over and watching the frustrations of your fans when they see their 'proud league team' beaten by some 'plucky non leaguers with no history and tradition etc'

History means nothing (although ironically having just checked out the dates Crawley have been in existance for exactly the same amount of time as Torquay,) heritage and average home attendances do not win football matches = sick football players do and we've got plenty of those!
