Yeh, I went - great night!

Took my 6-year-old nephew hoping to inspire him to a lifetime of supporting TUFC. He shouted "Come on Chelsea" at one point, so I gave up on him.

He went on to be a Pompey supporter. Bless him.

It was in 1991. I was a 16 year old boy and the emotions involved in that shoot out were unbelievable. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!

I remember I had to work on the Saturday morning at some ridiculous hour and I only had 3 hours sleep by the time the coach got home. I don't think we left Wembley until 11pm!
Mmmmmm, beeeeeeeer.

I had a search on YouTube the other day and I watched that game! Also remember watching in Boots and Laces once. It was the time when they used to put on the games that had been played the following week. I am too young to remember this but my Auntie went to the game!

Thanks for posting that.

Happy memories of Bamber’s Right Foot.

Yes it was a late Friday night as we got bummed out of our proper spot at Wembley by, if memory serves, an England international the next day against Saudi Arabia or some such titan of the world game.

Strange how many of our big Wembley moments have been disrupted and moved. Blackpool 91, Colchester 98, Cambridge 09 and Stevenage 11. The ones that survived with 3pm kick offs on the right day were the lesser competitions against Bolton 89 and Ebbsfleet 08.

Is it really only 6 appearances? Eat your hearts out Gargoyle...

Went with my Dad and sister, turns out my wife went as well, but we were only 12 at the time. Comes 2nd in my all-time greatest moments of supporting TUFC, 1st is beating Wolves in Sherpa-Van Trophy Southern section final.

Is it me or is it someone else who's thick ? :|

Twenty one years ago was 1990.

That Blackpool game was my third visit to the old Wembley. The two previous occasions being the Sherpa Sherbet Final of 1989 and the FA Cup Final of 1975.

TUFC have only played at Wembley (new and old) five times : v Bolton, v Blackpool, v Colchester, v Nobsfleet, v Cambridge.

Ah but us old 'uns take things literally Trojan ... in football seasons it is 21.... and of course our memory of the 60's with Robin Stubbs et al and being one of the better teams in Division 3 (now league 1) mixing with the likes of QPR, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa, Fulham, was also at the time trumped by our predecessors with those excellent teams from the 50's with Sammy Collins being the Torquay United Dixie Dean and going in to a last day away to Crystal Palace where we were the favourites to beat them and go up to what is now the championship as champions (we drew of course and Ipswich Town went up winning the Football League (now called Premiership) 5 years later). I hope that a supporter who wasn't old enough to see a game in 1991 is still there wearing the yellow and blue in 2071. Won't be there to see it myself but a nice thought that somebody will be (he will probably be sitting alongside Brucie in the stand! ;-) ) :keepie:

We wont live to see that New Year in that is for sure. I'm already dribbling in my soup now ! :O

I'm not that far away from still being able to wipe my own arse, but as long as I can still get it up (my shot to bits body to Plainmoor) then I will do. :)

Why ever not my Dad is 90 and still fit as a flea with all his faculties? The only regret I have is he is not a football supporter so he can't tell me tales about when we were playing at Cricketfield Road! Good season coming up Roberbito (nice Italian sounding name there ... Naples? ;-) ) and I am looking forward to this season more than I have looked forward to many. My 49th, a new manager, a better squad than last year whatever Brucie may try to brainwash me with, and a top three finish! :scarf:

Like my grandfather and father before me, promotion to the Championship and the building of the 'kerswell bypass may well be beyond my lifetime aswell.
