Jakey Robinson available for loan

Gary Johnson can't see him getting near their first team at the moment so is letting him go out on loan. Question is would you want him back here, or is he too similar to Billy Bodin?

Argyle might find him more useful at the moment.

With the strikers we have here at the moment you would be insane not to have him back. Atieno never scores, McPhee never scores ( admittedly on the bench most times though), Howe does score fairly regurlarly but sometimes offers little when the chips are down. Jakey is quick and direct and is always an outlet and although his form tailed off towards the end of his time at Torquay, he is still better than what we have at the minute with the possible exception of Bodin. Come back Jakey!!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Might be an interesting front(ish) three of Jakey, Rene and Billy. Certainly give us plenty of trickery and pace (Howe aside, of course).
Not quite sure how badly he'd have to be playing down at San Sixfields to not get anywhere near the XI.
Matt.

interesting that many of the players that finished last season with us, are now struggling elsewhere :-
Stanley, not doing anything spectacular at Rovers, neither is Zebs. I guess Bevan is doing ok despite the fact that team are letting in a fair few goals.
Tomlin isn't guaranteed to start at D&R.
Jakey not fitting in at AC Northampton.
Branno struggling for form.
i guess the grass isn't always greener.
as for Jakey, i'd welcome him back if his attitude is right. if he wants to play, he's a decent enough player, and i'm not sure his best position was out wide where Buckle played him. up top with Rene would be an interesting combination. and he'd always be welcome back here if for nothing else than his "only one team in devon - they play in yellow" comment !!

An extra option is always useful, funds permitting, but the question must be asked, why is Robinson out of favour at Northampton. And was he in top form towards the end of his time at Plainmoor last season? Players do have runs of poor form of course, which does not make them bad players, and they will come good again, so Robinson could be a good signing for somebody. But by the same token we may have been too hard on Atieno, Howe and a few others. Martin Ling may well be wise to wait another couple of months before deciding whether or not to bringing in new players. I believe Atieno will hit his top form again before too long, and we are already beginning to see signs of improvement in the squad as a whole. We may or may not get to the play-offs or above this season, but we should certainly now get behind the lads and cheer them on.

If i was Carl Fletcher at Plymouth I would be trying to snap their arm off for this opportunity. Their team is crying out for someone who might be able to get 10+ goals to help them stay afloat and they desperately need a partner for that Feeney bloke. I would be very surprised if he doesn't go there, and tbh, i hope they do get him.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

I would love to get Jakey back on loan, he has got pace and skill but his attitude needs to be right as Regiment said. He is a great player no doubt about that, but last season he did look uninterested at times. I also thought at times he lacked urgency. Having said that, he did play some great football at his time at tufc and if he wanted to come back for a loan, even if it's just for a month or 2 Mr Ling and the club shouldn't ignore him.

Just a pang of a thought if our good friends Paul Buckle would want him back?
Bucks was a huge fan of his and was apparently interested in taking him to Rovers. And as we all know, he seems incapable of signing players that weren't on our scouting network...

for some reason, lost souls tend to do well at our club. the likes of branston and robinson have struggled elsewhere recently but done the business for us. id like to think that we can soon we can include atieno in that list but i fear not.Regiment wrote:interesting that many of the players that finished last season with us, are now struggling elsewhere :-

and id have jakey back in a heartbeat. either a front three with rene and billy or ask billy to do a job out wide left, which he seems more than capable of doing.

Atieno will not improve in my opinion. He doesn't have that much ability nor the application / attitude to do so. Its as simple as that and a shame too. I'd rather have an out of form Jakey boy please.
