Don't hate Argyle like I do City, however I find that slightly patronising.

You want to try living in Plymouth all your life, A lot of Argyle fans are very arrogant and generally t*ats. Although all clubs have them even ours. That said, Most of the slime i have met over the years do generally like Torquay... they see us as their little brother club not big enough nor important enough to class us as proper rivals in their eyes. Perhaps rightly so?

We could end up finishing above them for the next 10 years and they would still regard them selves as a better,bigger club always.

Couple of my mates are going Saturday(Argyle fans) and have already reminded me more than enough times that i should expect to see more green than yellow on Saturday.

Hope we stuff them 7-0.

Have to agree with you there Plymgull, growing up in Saltash, being a Gulls fan was a nightmare, and whilst I too have some decent Argyle supporting mates, I always see them as the team I want us to beat and be better than. Never thought I'd get to see that but I think its now or never!!

Having bricks thrown at me as a 12 year old boy after they robbed us 4-3 all those years ago outside Homo Park as I was going back to the car with my old man means that whilst I don't wish them to fold, I wish them an ever downward spiral!!

Agree with both Kernowgull and Plymgull - I hate being patronised by our 'bigger' neighbours. We are a professional club and unless I have missed something, the only league club in Devon NOT to go into administration. Many of my green army colleagues might 'like us' but they need to show us some respect as a professional football club with a rich history.

I think our players have a golden opportunity to make the Cornish respect us. I was at the Argyle v Exeter game last year and most of the Argyle fans I met were happy to have a Gull amongst them and most made a point of saying they liked Torquay but I reckon that for the first time in a long long time there will be thousands of Greeks cheering us on for this one

Excuse me Southampton, but there is nothing Cornish about Argyle!! That was the one thing I hated about games versus them, all the chants were about being Cornish, and I couldn't in all good conscience join in with them!

True!! I have also just seen that if the Cornish Pirates get promoted they may ground-share at Homo Park!

But on your original point, and as I said in mine, this could be a now or never moment, win on Saturday, and again in Jan, and we could reign over Plymouth for sometime. Lose either/both, and we may never get the chance to again!

Feels a bit patronising to say 'little chums', but maybe it's understandable. Not going on Saturday, but I am sure the mutual respect will endure, though I would also hope that any Argyle fans who might find themselves in the home end, show decorum, and not any arrogance.

Arrogance, f*****g arrogance? It'll be difficult to be arrogant when they're 8-0 down at half time.

There should be alot of affinity really as both areas are similar in many ways-two of the poorest areas in the South-West:wards which are amongst the 10% most deprived in the country;low wages,rising unemployment,lack of job opportunities;those with decent qualifications forced to move way to get jobs and watch their teams as "exiles"etc.
Exeter has prospered in comparison and is leaving both areas behind in terms of its economic prosperity and future prospects.
Their fans do patronise us a bit but I'm sure there's a genuine affection and respect as we "punch above our weight".
If they do go down to the BSP it would be a massive blow to the club and the city.
A city of its size should have a successful football club but I think most of their fans are realistic enough to know there's a very real chance they may have to go backwards to go forwards(just as we did,though the implications for them of relegation are far greater than they were for us)
We may be a small club in comparison but "little Torquay United's prospects";for now at least ,are far better than that of our "big" neighbours .
