Hardy sitting back ,Danny please just think about it Accy are desperate for the points as well. DURR !!

First ever point at Accy

For the last minutes of the game it was all Accrington! Plus, bringing on Leadbitter for Jarvis when we have Thompson on the bench, suggests sitting back.

Macklin is constantly overlooked by managers. I'm not sure it's a coincidence. Attitude.

Do you really think a raw clueless Thompson would do anything ???? Lets get a point with a Leadbitter who is just as pacy but defensively far better than Thompson in a place such as Accy. Thompson to be used at home ...possibly.

Hardly fair on Thompson? He is a good player with a lot of skill and pace to beat a man, why do we want to be more defensive with Leadbitter? Why do we want to get the draw? Go out and go for the victory, 3 points for us is massive! Thompson would be the perfect player to be given the ball to start an attack on the break, against the tired Stanley defenders.

Just my opinon but I don't think he is nowhere near good enough for the situation that we are in. After seven defeats to get a point away at one of your relegation rivals was so important. Hopefully it might give us a bit of confidence.

Danny - my guess would be that Knill wanted pace for the last few mins, but with a defensive mindset.
Leadbitter offers that.
Accy were all over us so was pointless bringing on somebody that could leave us more exposed.

A good decision and a good point.

I respect your opinion, just don't agree with it. I agree with the fact that a point away at Accy is a good result, but we need so much more! 1 shot and none on target is not good enough and we need to be more attacking.

Yes a point is a point and hopefully a confidence boost. All relegation candidates seem to fighting like hell, so a long way still to go...We still need more shots on target...Shouldn't have to explain at there ages of 'what goes where.

Just back from the grocery shop and what joy! Life is good
A rare point at Accy is as good as 3 on most occasions for us, and even more so today
Good effort, Poke is a hero again, now we need to build on this...

Of course we need more but this is a bunch of players who have just lost SEVEN games in a row. Confidence probably shot to smithereens. So this is hopefully something to build on. No midweek game so work on the training pitch hopefully get a player or two in and work towards Oxford next week.

We've stopped the rut of defeats. That is the most important thing we can take from today. Let's be honest, who thought we would win today? Not me that's for sure.

We can finally begin to build on our attempt to avoid relegation. Bring on Oxford.

You're right, three points would be massive but at the other end of the scale no points and three for Stanley would be terrible. Happy with a point each. Onwards and upwards :)

Agreed Dutch, a week to regroup on the training pitch after 3 games in a week should rejuvinate the lads. This was a very good point.
We didn't pick up any reinforcements during the last week as we expected so perhaps we will have a pleasant surprise in store. Hopefully help for our goal creation and goal scoring department.
It's crowded in the drop zone a couple of wins for any of the teams will change things quickly

Uninspiring and unambitious, but we never really were in danger of losing apart from the disallowed goal at the end.

First game I've been too in a while, what a side devoid of confidence we are. Nobody prepared to take a risk, look for the killer ball or make an exciting run. The possession and short passing was nice, but it was always the safety first approach. I can kind of understand why, but a little bit of ambition and we would have won today.

The whole issue was encapsulated in the disallowed goal passage of play. We were on the attack, and Manse had the opportunity to run to the edge of the box and either have a crack or feed billy in. But no - as soon as he got the ball he ran away from the space, never even looked for Billy and instead couldn't wait to get the ball off to Nico in a less advanced position! Nico lost it, their winger ran at our back tracking defence and got a shot away - poke fumbles and fortunately the Stanley attacker was offside as he buried it, but if we'd been willing to make runs or take shots we might have had a chance of a win.

Positives were definitely the performance of McDonald - had Beattie in his pocket - and poke particularly in the first half with some crucial saves. Lathrope was by far the worst player on the pitch. His passing was embarrassingly bad. Thought Benyon worked really hard but got no service, whereas Rene only played in small doses and had the demeanour of a man who won't e signing a new contract with us any time soon.

A point gained? Yeah probably, it's stopped the rot. But we desperately need some energetic "tryers" to be brought in. It was all so low in confidence and pedestrian - I'm not asking for the worlds best players to be brought in, but just a couple of young lads with pace and/or energy to lift the performances on the pitch. There was no banter or atmosphere amongst the players today, and it's that that worries me the most

Jeff, you were afforded one of our better performances on the road, believe me, a trip to Rochdale last week would have had you drooling over today's performance we were that bad there. Anyway i can write more later when i've got the little one settled.

Accrington is a total hole, the place and the ground and it hasn;t improved one bit since my last visit a few years ago. I must start by saying that and it really should be destroyed. The town AND the ground.

On the pitch we were ok in parts today and a million times better than i expected although Accrington looked a shockingly poor side. That is the worry, although we kept a clean sheet ( most other teams in this league would have scored against us today ) we struggled to create many clear cut chances again and still can't score. We look devoid of any confidence and if i estimate most teams we have left to play this season will probably score against us then we won't win because we cannot score enough goals. When was the last time we scored twice in a game? Exactly, so we are going to have to be expected to do just that in quite a few of our remaining games when we have only done it the once 3 months back. I went, i coughed and spluttered and although performance wise it wasn't the pits, we will be relegated unless we get in some strikers who can score goals. It really is that simple IMO. If we stay as we are we are definately dropping and i say that as someone who is reasonably happy with the game today, just that we can't score and we can't score against a side as bad as that. Using common sense that says we need a series of 1-0 wins or we're doomed.

Write more later with report, ratings etc.

I HATE ACCRINGTON IT ISN'T OF THIS EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
