I have to leave out the very small printed bits, if I dont have my £1.99 reading glasses.
Now which is it ? £1 or 99p ?
I could nip in to the £ shop in Fleet Walk because it's nearer, but as the 99p shop over in Paignton is cheaper I gets me reading contraptions from there.

Knowing Troj it will be something extremely damaging to health.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
Those old programmes from the 50's/60's with the pictures of Oddicombe Beach (picture taken from the viewpoint of Babbacombe Downs) and the picture of Torre Abbey Gardens - looking towards Princess Pier, bring to mind a golden era of not only TORQUAY UNITED but also of the ENGLISH RIVIERA.
Lookout now from Babbacombe Downs and it's only a matter of time before Torquay Golf Club (like that collapsed house) ends up as spoil down on Oddicombe Beach.

DTUFC wrote:Getting back on track...Andy, what did Morecambe's programme do well? What sort of features did it have?
Well DTUFC, i've just dug out the Morecambe programme and also our home match programme against Northampton this season (as that is the last home game i went to ) and i've compared them.
The Morecambe programme is miles better IMO and it is kind of hard to explain why, i think the obvious thing that hits me reading through our programme is the yellow and blue colour scheme running through it on all the pages. Obviously they are our colours but there doesn't seem to be any boldness or distinguishing lines and it all looks a bit of a mish mash. The Northampton Town pages are poor in comparison to the coverage we got by the Morecambe programme. Our programme doesn't even have a list of their players and background. The yellow corner for kids is embarrassing. The Morecambe programme has loads of articles and text smaller than ours but they've crammed a hell of a lot in and not many adverts either plus it looks thicker than ours which takes some doing given the 'padding' out of the programme we have done with photos here, there and everywhere.
It's kind of hard to explain and we all have different opinions and i'm not saying our programme is crap by any means just that there is much better out there. I think the colour scheme of it doesn't help as it's too light and wishy washy.
Hope that helps, probably not

Check out your attics and boxes in the garage etc;a 1882 FA Cup final programme for the Old Etonians v Blackburn Rovers match fetched £35K at an auction at Sotheby's yesterday( a world record).

Yeah, perhaps our programme could have a more detailed description of the other team's players - I think at the moment it's limited to their "three main threats" or something along those lines. Would only need perhaps a brief outline of their starting XI's careers to date.
I do think the main interview with a different player each fortnight is good and should be left unchanged, but there are definitely parts that could be improved.

Thing is, Andy, it's the Torquay programme, I want Torquay related content. If I'm honest, I don't give a shit about the history of the Accrington Stanley second choice left back. I'd rather we had (as we have now) that space dedicated to TUFC related stuff. Equally, I love that it's many little articles, rather than a few long, laborious pieces in microscopic typeset offering endless anorak level information about very, very boring nonsense. Since the revamp, I've read almost all of our programmes cover to cover.
As for adverts, there are some, but (in the last one of the season, which I have to hand), there are 15 adverts. 2 are NPower (which will be compulsory), one is the FL (comp), one is Capital One (comp), one is Football Foundation (comp), one is the police (comp), one is Subway (national), four are in connection with much larger sponsorship packages, one is for a TUFC event and only the remaining couple are proper, bespoke, avoidable advertisements. They're all on the same side, so it's very easy to ignore them.
I believe also someone mentioned earlier that TQ1 was not immediately identifiable as the TUFC programme. As it happens, writ large on the cover is, "Torquay United's Official Match Day Programme".
I love how it is now and will happily reiterate that, for me, it's the best programme I've seen.

Matt.
Agree. I think it is very good. All advertising is essentially unavoidable. In fact the more the better because it is a revenue stream and shows businesses think it worth while spending their money with TUFC
Haha, Lloydy, your tag line seems all the more amusing given this morning's transfer news. The Yorks won't like it, but they might just sign the player wot dun it.
